What just happened?!

Okay I have a 2012 Taco, couple times I have started it - it would crank but not start. Changed the battery and it has plenty of gas.

Something in common both instances I was parked on a pretty steep spot. Gravity? No it can't be, it's fuel injected.

Banana in the tail pipe? Never
Rodents? I check this the other day and nothing.

What do you guys think is happening?

Can you smell raw gas? Leaking injectors flooding the engine? How long was it between shutting down and trying to start? I like throwing darts.

So you turned the key and it would just crank over but not start? You then let off the key, turned it to the off position and then tried to start it again and it would start?

Maybe I'm overreacting but it seems to happen when truck is parked on a steep spot

 

Mine does this too, also happens on flat ground occasionally also.

Havnt been able to figure out why.

 

Mine does the same thing, does it randomly. Got the battery tested, it was good, alternator good, I cleaned the battery posts and thought it solved the problem up until a few days ago.

 

My 08, 11 and 15 all did it, usually on cold windy days or on a decline/incline even slight. It's been discussed here before. Something about the fuel pump and delay.

 

Mine happened during a rain storm.

 

Does anybody turn the key in the on postistion and give it a few seconds before starting? Diesels burned that in me and I never stopped doing it.

 

Have you ever had issues starting your TACO.
