RTT are not a fad. I lived in one for 49 days traveling western Canada and Alaska in 2015. Well worth the money. The vehicle does not have to be "perfectly level" in order for you to deploy it. RTT only take a couple mins to set up and break down. You will spend more time setting up and breaking down a ground tent than the time you spend on a RTT.

Don't over analyze it. You won't regret purchasing one as long as you actually get outdoors to use it.

Great. Thank you. The racks are in the tracks on a raised ARE campershell.

I want to change my order to the mt Shasta summit Extended stargazer too. What is the maximum height before you need ladder extensions?

You can join, that was just a joke.

If you are going to do it, do it now.

In the future, GBs may only be for participants with a minimum post count.

The saving is not too much, last time people bundled shipments for saving it was like $50 in savings per tent - regardless how many people ordered together.

In the end, a lot of group shipping teams broke up because people thought it wasn't worth driving to where the tents were getting shipped to.. and decided to ship them to their house.

When the items comes back in stock, you place your order. by signing up, you pretty much "reserve" one for yourself at GB price when they become available.

I agree with @MTgirl - the whole world stares at your setup and others will ask you questions about it. I've heard from others that people will ask to climb into the tent to check it out.
I haven't had anyone ask me to climb into my tent yet, buy if they do, my answer will be no. I mean, like..wth?? lol

    Good things:

RTTs are PERFECT for trailer builds.
RTTs are good for getting off the ground and staying dry.
Quick to setup compared to CONVENTIONAL tents.
No need to stake it down.
    Wont blow away.

    Bad things:

You camp where you park, so if you need to go anywhere you pretty much need to pack up, walk, or hitch a ride with someone that doesn't have an RTT.
    It is hard to store.
If you pack it up wet, you need to unpack it at home to have it dry or it will mold up.
It is a pain to get up on your vehicle without help.
    People wont leave you alone.
The ladder needs to land on level surface.

If you are getting an RTT because they are "faster" to setup and break down, don't get it.
You can get a 3 second tent - Malamoo, Quechua, Oztent - In my opinion, that set up faster than ANY RTT in the market and they store amazing.

For me, the bed of the truck is too small.

And I would have to take everything out of the bed every night to setup the tent.. then if it rains, its all gonna get wet.
