What is the used market like right now for 3rd gens?

I'm used to being able to sell cars on Craigslist, albeit at a much lower price, and move them in 1-2 weeks. I've been looking to upgrade to a 2017 or a Tundra and can't seem to move my Taco. It's been posted for a month and I'm not getting any offers. It's a 2016 Limited and I have it listed for $36,000 out here in Seattle. I know KBB has the value a little bit lower, but my Taco is the lowest priced limited in all of WA/OR.

How do you guys feel about the used market right now? I'm not in a rush to sell, but I can lower the price if needed. I'm just surprised there isn't much interest.

 

At 36k, I personally would go with a lower trim package new Taco than take the risk on a used vehicle.
I know there's lots of guys out there who pamper their vehicles and still decide to sell early, but there's also people who know they have a lemon, or unclaimed damage, and are trying to move it. I think you are right in that sweet spot of too much value left in it and too close to current year model.

Agreed. I'm on the fence about sticking it out until the 2018 is available or dropping it low enough to make sense for the buyer.

 

When I was searching for a limited, before I bought a pro, I was seeing some new '16 limited 4x4s for $37K and under. Your price seems a bit high imo.

 

It's the lowest priced Limited within 800 miles of where I live. I can't do much more than be the lowest.

 

I bought a brand new 2017 TRD OR for less than that, why would I pay that for used?

 

I paid 34K for 2016 used TRDOR w/ 9K miles on it, from a dealer. I think you're high...

2) There are regional adjustments for the market.

Like I said, it's the lowest priced Limited within 800 miles. I know people can get something cheaper where they live, but if there is nothing local, there aren't a lot of options. Obviously if I really wanted to move it TODAY, I could drop it to $25K or something crazy cheap.

You definitely have a point there. I noticed it's BBP too which is a popular color I thought.

 

How am I asking too much if EVERY SINGLE OTHER LIMITED IS MORE EXPENSIVE?

I'm literally asking the LEAST amount.

 

I think it's worth what your willing to pay. I buy and sell a lot of vehicles and have never done good with newer cars. My first thought when I see a newer vehicle on Craigslist or anywhere for that matter being sold private party is that there is a reason they are selling such a new vehicle and due to the fact you have it listed lower than anyone else to me would also steer me away. Maybe post your sale add on here so we can see it.

Just because it is the cheapest available doesn't mean it isn't too much.
