Old man Emu rear leafs??

Hey guys. Have an '06 with a 2.5 leveling kit up front and an AAL in the rear. I need more hauling capacity out of the thing. The AAL helped but i swear i can throw a couple hundred pounds of camping stuff in back and it sags and rides like hell going down the highway. Now i was told by a local shop that the 3" old man emu springs are a 7 leaf pack and will increase my load carrying capacity. So for you guys running these springs how are they.? Is it worth the $320.00 they want for the springs? Thanks a ton!!

 

your rear end is sagging and bottoming out because you need the 'TSB". search tsb in the search menu it will tell you all about it

 

its 320 per side-look at toytecs website, u will probably need more than the leaf springs, you will need u bolts, carrier bearing drop, etc, someone knows about this more than i do

 

TSB would effect load carrying capacity about as much as an AAL would I'd imagine. Both just add an extra leaf.

Having run a dakar leaf pack and TSB rear leafs the dakar pack was better all around. The TSB was cheaper (free). If I get around to overhauling the suspension on my 09 I'll be getting another dakar rear leaf pack to hold all my camping equipment and possibly a trailer.

U-bolts (good opportunity for a u-bolt flip), bushings, and nitrocharger shocks (might as well get the full OME rear kit). I got it all from Wheelers, they had it organized nice. Never any issues with vibrations, axle wrap, wheels falling off, etc.

 

yes, they rock!! i just installed them after installing my spindles...and i just moved a ton of stuff...they ride sooo nice! i had the TSB leafs before and these are so much better, loaded and unloaded.

but, as others have said, you will need the nitrocharger shocks ($175), longer ubolts ($30), and bushings (?).

search around and you'll find all kinds of info.

from Wheelers Offroad. Exact same set-up I ran on my old truck. It also lists a carrier bearing drop for $11. Whatever.

 

Hey, I can relate. I camp a lot with my dogs. Have a shell and a home built wood platform for the dogs in back. With a weekend of gear the stock TRD was not cutting it. BTW- I has the 3-leaf on back and not the TSB.

Anyway, I put on an OME setup. I favored the OME/Dakar leaf pack over the Deaver because the 7 leaf was a nice compromise, although the 10 leaf Deaver is rock solid if you want the ultimate. Anyway, I put on some OME N182 NitroCharger Shocks and longer u-bolts and brake lines and was all set.

Now my truck doesn't sag at all and the ride is still superb.

OME ROCKS !!!

 

remember too that they give ~2.75" lift as well. im running a 4" lift spindle and bils at 0.85" and im slightly higher in the front..

 

I am running the Dakar rear leaf setup and the front coils as well. The rear leafs are a seven pack but I only using 6 of them cause of the heighth difference from the front. These are great springs and well worth the money.
But you will need more than just the springs. You will need longer u bolts, possibly a carrier bearing drop spacer.

I know this is an older thread, I was just wondering. I have the 2.5 lift blocks in the rear on my 07 Dbl Cab and have the same crappy stock springs. I just ordered the OME springs and bushings. I already have the extended shock from my block lift. My question is, will I have to apply any shims or anything for the angle of my diff for correct driveline angle?

Diff drop - they have it at toytec for cheap I think. That should be all you need. Hope it helps.

 

I installed the OME kit with Dakar rear springs today.
The truck is completely transformed!
I'm using 6 leafs and have no additional lift.

The stock suspension is a complete joke - I have a 2010 TRD Off Road DC. I seriously doubt that the TSB thing would have been satisfactory to me.

I'm really glad that I made the decision not to cut corners with fixing my suspension and to do it instead on my own $.

Tookthree weeks for the backordered springs to arrive and I couldn't wait to get the junk off my truck.

The only good thing I can say about the stock suspension is that when you upgrade it, you know instantly that you didn't waste your time and money - the difference is night and day.

The Dakars are perfect for hauling and everything else. Get them. Now.

 

I'm still deciding on what lift I wanna put on my 2010. I had the 5100s and an aal on my 2006. But I think I wanna go a step up this time around. I was going to get the OME lift kit this time around. Now I haven't really pushed the issue with the dealer about the tsb yet but is it worth it to go through the hassel of getting them to do the tsb and doing another aal or would it be much mire benefical to just save some extra coin and just do the OME springs right away. I'm guessing it would be so much better that way. And now I go with the OME 3" front lift will it sit higher then the rear With the OME springs? Don't they only give like 2.75"?

 

My set up has 7 leaf Old Man E and it sags like a mofo!!! Took my Tacoma camping for the first time after i bought my lift!! Sag was sad !!! I spent 2k!!! so he could tall me sorry but if you don't want the sag you need to get $$$ AIRBAGS $$$$ So what you have is great just get Air Bags cost about $350.
