I'm expecting one of these any day. 733g, rough powder coated so no heat problem, and he's testing a nipple bottom end that may allow the OE boot to use the stock clip.

Nice, I'm going to check them out since they have a sale right now. Still waiting for my truck to be built so I can wait. About how long does it take to get one made? (I'm sure it depends on customization but I'm just looking for a rough time estimate.)

longer than you want to wait.

@elduder had one and it took 3 months. i am having them do a custom knob, a different one from what i posted above, and I've been at 2 months now with no certain future. the good part is he's up front and easy to communicate with, just gotta stay on top of the project. you have time so get it going now.

de-badged, tint front windows, led interior lights, door sill protectors, led b/up lights, 5" factory step rails, yellow turn signal bulbs, added 4 D ring tie downs. Took off the black vinyl stripes between the doors. Changed the grill - from Custom Car Grills, Finally got a tonneau cover put on. 31" light bar ( white & amber ), tailgate light bar, sunvisor covers ( to hide warning labels ), new bedside decals - still too cold to put them on tho. Flag decals to go on too, again too cold still. Got a 2 switch, switch plate to replace that useless cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel.. still to be installed ( hopefully this weekend ). Upgraded the tires to G/Y Duratracs... loving them, no plowing the driveway !!
I too just got a Speed Dawg shift knob - I love it. But what grommet did you use... where do I get ? thanks in advance.

    a lot
I hit up the same guy that I bought the first wooden knob but asked him to make one to my specs.

It's a little heavier because of the size and wood type being a processed wood.

I really like it and no hot or cold issues.

Sure did and it worked, but Ive since made it simpler due to the weird "figure 8" of the original design required by the OEM knob. Now its a circle and I just have to find someone to print out a prototype for me to try it again. If it works, Ill upload the new stl file for anyone to print out.

Any update on how this will attach to the stock boot? I just ordered one last night and I'm wondering what the install is going to be like.

same as any other a/m knob. just screw it on, no adapter. do what you will with the boot separately... like the grommet thing or whatever. the knob and boot do not connect.

WC Lathewerks makes some great shift knobs! I had him make a custom knob for my wife for our 10 year anniversary. Totally blew her mind!

Can you explain like I'm five the "grommet" method? I know it is discussed in this thread, but I'm a little bit confused on what all I will need and what to do with it.

pretty sure it's just a rubber grommet from any hardware store with a 3/4" internal diameter... someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that. slide the groomet down the shaft and fit it inside the boot ring, and then it will hold it up and cover most of the inside of the ring which is pretty unsightly.

3/4 Rubber grommet is all you need, that being said, make sure you cut either side of the grommet lip off, essentially so that there is no more groove, and you have one lip showing, this is done so that when you smash the grommet inside the chrome ring it doesn't hit the plastic notches that attach to the original shift knob, if you don't do this part, the grommet will push itself up and the shift boot will become loose again. Hope that helps anyone.
