And a new Limited in Seattle is $42,000 FIRM. I don't see your point or the value of your post when you are buying a different truck, with lower MSRP, 3,200 miles away.

It seems like a Limited is not a highly sought after Tacoma either, probably only appeals to a small Niche Market.

The truck is listed on CL, autotrader, cargurus, truecar, geico, USAA, Allstate, etc.

Hope the dealer was kind enough to use lube when they gave it to you in the rear paying that. Lol!

I didn't pay anywhere close to that. I bought mine out of state and had it shipped.

But they're a nationwide company with a warranty and have had some type of inspection prior to sale. I'd rather spend $1500-2000 more from CarMax than a private seller when I'm dealing with something this expensive. CarMax will have the title in hand....I imagine yours is at a bank. CarMax will handle the license / registration / title of the vehicle instead of going and standing in line at the DMV, these are all conveniences of buying from a dealer vs. private party.

I know I wouldn't buy a used Ltd for $36k when I could drive a few hundred miles away and get a new Ltd for $2500 more.

Maybe some people would though. :notsure:

In New York you would want to trade that in, you would save $2880 in sales tax if the dealer gave you $36k for it. It must work different in your state?

OP, I was in your situation a year ago, selling a 1 year old truck. The bottom line - you don't have the bargaining power in this situation. The buyer you are trying to attract is not your typical used car buyer looking for a $15,000 vehicle where being $500-$1,000 cheaper makes a big difference. Someone who can afford $36,000 for a Tacoma can most likely afford $40,000, and as a result they are looking for the best value. And despite yours being the cheapest Limited in 800 miles, it's still obviously not representing the best value to buyers, and who can blame them? For $4,000, they can get a full warranty, new truck, and piece of mind that it has been maintained appropriately. Tacoma's have great resale, but not 1 year out. It takes several years to see that materialize, no matter what the vehicle is.

Bottom line - it's economics. You are priced at a point that appears to be above what the market is willing to pay. Yes there are more expensive ones, but they're not selling either, and those are dealers who can afford to wait probably because they have other vehicles that they're turning over and getting cash flow from. Best of luck in your sale, but I do think you're asking a little much.

Understood. I get the pricing. And I guess that's what it really comes down to. My question was more, "what's the market like". And even though there are a bunch of answers of "you're too high", the true answer to the question is, "the used market for 3rd gens is shit because people just buy new".

Have you gotten quotes from dealerships or used car places? Thats a useful tool to put you in perspective of what the truck is worth. Take their quote and your quote and set the price at the midpoint and that should be realistically what you can get used. I was looking at used TRD Off Road 2nd gen before I got my 3rd gen and for $2-3k more I could get new.

What is the point of this thread again? OP just seems pissy and argumentative every time someone makes a suggestion.
