for me and this is just my experience with my 2010 and my 2003 MANUAL trans the premium allowed me to "chug" at idle speeds in first gear without bucking. On the rental property that I own there is no need to really accelerate above idle to go spot to spot... chugging does just fine. Yes this is a non-normal situation.

Is there a consensus that's agreed on? Premium or regular. Pro's and Cons.

No consensus, it is true that the less ethanol the better, but not if the price difference is too high.

Interesting but it's your personal experience observed. I believe you. Others may not. Be forewarned

The manual states not to use E85 I believe but then states use fuel with up to 15% ethanol max. I guess that's what you mean. Around here all fuel is up to 10% ethanol

I did a road trip in november. Here un texas i use 93 octane. Oklahoma and missouri are 91. I noticed a 5-10 mpg difference with just 2 points lower octane. I understand 87 is fine with this truck but i have always used premium as it is best in all my other engines.

    Wow 5-10 mpg.

What was the mpg with 93 and with 91? 20 vs 10mpg?

24 mpg with 93 octane average, and 18 mpg average with 91. Same trip same driving habits and same direction. Also noticed it was comparitive coming back, though i didnt track it comimg home very closely.

Quite the opposite. I do find it helpful.

    5-10mpg is incredible.

We only have upto 91 octane here in the peoples republic of Kalifornia (at least where I shop). I don't get any noticeable increase running it beside the extra detergents and such.

Detergents dont really make a difference as far as performance from what ive seen, however for a while a certain brand here would pay for a motor rebuild if you kept ever receipt for gas you bought from them.

Do you know if the 93 was E0 and the 91 was E10?

So in your opinion. Why would/did you get better MPG with 93 vs 91?

Best educated guess is the higher octane. That was the only change during the drive. However 2 points isnt a big difference, but the dash calculations showed substantial difference. I would love to say everything is better in texas, but that still doesnt explain this.
