    This is exactly it.

There's no used market price point for the 2016 and 2017 yet without it being unreasonably low by your expectations. It's going to be no different in any other US market; if you want to sell, you will have to drop your price another $3-5k.

I was looking for a DCLB, which is surprisingly rare in Georgia. The cheapest used one I could find was listed at $34500 before tax and had about 10k miles. The dealer was the same as you, unwilling to budge at all on the price. I drove hours away to a dealership that had basically the same DCLB, same color, same trim, more options for $34k including tax. The dealership sold it below invoice since it had been sitting for months.

Around here, I can get a new Limited for less than $36k. A dealership tried to put me in one, I didn't care to pay the extra for the bells and whistles I won't use. Furthermore, no one cares about your color. Anyone that particular about color will be particular about features too, and just order new.

Bottom line, you are asking too much for your truck.

It is more challenging to private party sell a used car in the $20K+ range than say a $5,000 to $10,000 car. Even once you get to a price point that starts attracting interest, you're going to deal with a TON of tire-kickers. There's an art to this kind of stuff and knowing how to filter out the noise. This is why dealerships make a killing on trades. It's just far more practical and convenient to bring your vehicle in and roll out with what you want in 4 or 5 hours. Yes, even at a net loss on the deal of 3 or 4 grand. You can list a price that gets interest but then you're going to get lowballed and test drivers right and left who want to try and mindfuck you out of another 3 or 4 grand off your list price. You'll hear every complaint and nitpick in the world as to why your price is too high. You have to deal with all of this before you find someone who's actually interested and then GOOD LUCK finding someone who can actually get approved for the money. You'll get a ton of people who want something they can't afford and can't get the money together. You're going to need a LOT of patience. Not a lot of people have 35 grand liquid cash laying around to drop on a truck and buying private party with that amount of cash can be a foreign process and a scary process to many average citizens.

And what makes you think other buyers won't do the same? That is the whole point here. You are basically looking for that one rare sucker out there that doesn't know any better.

And to make matter worse, that one rare subject keeps will not know anything about what limited is or what it means. They just see tacoma and a number and think "wtf I can buy a new one for that".

If you really want to be rid of it I would haul it down to CarMax and take what they give you and be done with it. Trust me when I say it'll be a cold day in hell before I ever sell anything to the public ever again in my life! I've sold everything from tractors, trucks, zero turns, you name it. The one thing they all have in common is I can remember what a pain in my ass it was to go through the whole process of dealing with Joe public. Whenever you sell something, it seems to attract every person with a credit score of 250 and doesn't have $5 in the bank, yet here they are checking out your $20,000 tractor or $30,000 truck. You'll get asked the stupidest questions and hear the biggest sob stories that you could really give less than a damn about. It's almost as if they expect you to say "sorry you have 13 kids and your wife is a slut and you're living in your car, I'll be glad to give you this $30,000 truck for free cause you seem like a good guy". I'm serious, they really think that.

Take that truck to CarMax and dump it and just be glad you got rid of it for whatever you can get out of it!

Didn't read the other post but, one point of interest may be new Tacoma sales have declined ~ 10% for March of 17 and ~ 7% ytd for CY 17. I'm not sure that will affect new price much but, it does show some decline in interest of the product. FWIW.

I think it is simple, your mileage is too high for how much you are asking. Yes, you are almost 2 grand cheaper than the other blue one that shows up on your search, but you have almost 16,000 more miles.

That's what I think whenever I see a 1 year old truck on a dealer lot. Someone got fed up and traded it in, is the first thought that crosses my mind.

I'm not pissy at all. I summed it up in a prior post. I got my answer. The question was, "what is the market situation for used 3rd gens". The answer to said question is, "the market is shit".

pretty much time to end the thread.

Moving on though, it's likely worth your drive 130 miles to Carmax, I sold a Tacoma to them years back and they paid me way more than I expected them to and the price they give you is good for 7 days / 500 miles (at least it used to be). I've sold 3 cars to them and their price was in KBB range.

I think the higher the trim level the more depreciation, people shop price and just expect to get all the options or whatever for free and if it's missing something they live with it if the price is right. A fully loaded limited on the used car market will depreciate the most. My low option bare-bones 17 SR 4x4 that I had to order because the dealer sells them as fast as they get them was $25,900. If I listed it for sale I will get most if not all of my money back for years to come. Because even if it doesn't have all the fancy options somebody will say hey if I can get a 17 with low mileage for 25k and someone wants 25k for a 2011 with more options , it's a no brainer.

Good to know. I reached out to them 3 weeks ago and I just didn't have time to make a roadtrip then. I was a little apprehensive though because another dealer offered me $30,500. Which I'm not ok with. I'm assuming CarMax is much more reasonable.

Yes, from my experience it was - I think you can make an appointment, from the car's I've sold I was in and out in an hour and I didn't stay on the lot I walked across the street and went shopping.

Since I live in the area and had a limited.

I bought my 2017 limited for 38.5k out the door (no tax in Oregon) brand new in Vancouver (they also sell them that cheap at wilsonville toyota) I did some extensive dealership shopping before I bought mine.

Sold it 3 months later for 42k with 6,000 miles. I got lucky I was able to get out what I was in it.

I agree, that is my initial thought as well. However, my brother works for Honda Finance and he says that very few new traded vehicles actually fall under the lemon category. He says most of them are there because people eat more than they can chew and run into issues making their monthly payments and have the vehicle repossessed or trade down for lower payments.

I went to a Colorado with the Duramax, love the truck. Wish it had the Tacoma limited interior but hey I get 25 mpg towing my s2000 on 33's and a lift.

Haha well lets just say I had most of the common issues. I drive on the freeway and the taco seemed to love 4th gear lol.
