Just a quick question, did you guys had any odd smell coming off of your truck, when it was new? it's not strong, and can't smell it from the inside of the cabin. I hope it's not the clutch again. It already got replaced with only 900miles. They couldn't tell me why it happened. (this is not my first manual truck/car, had a MY2000 taco, s2000, m roadster, civics and STI all in MT) anyways just hoping is some left over oil somewhere being burn off. It has 1600 miles on her now. If the clutch goes again, I'll definitely get them to buy this back and get another one. Sigh.....

Maybe the original clutch wasn't adjusted properly from the factory and was slipping for most of its life?

It took me about 2 months in 2015 to find my truck then wait for it to arrive.

First morning looking. Not intending to buy. Just window shop. First Toy dealership about a mile from my house. Exactly what I wanted was sitting on the show room floor. TRD OffRoad Access Cab Quicksand Manual Tranny. Bought it right then and there. Took less than an hour from time leaving home. Finding my new truck and owning it in my name.

Has anybody ground any gears yet? I've done it 3 times now. Now I'm getting paranoid.

No gear grinding on mine at all, been buttery smooth, Reverse is the only Gear that is a bit difficult.

I've only had happen twice when I didn't push the clutch all the way past the engagement. And once I didn't push the shifter into 1st all the way. Do you think I've caused significant damage?

No. The synchros can take the occasional gear jam. Don't make a habit of it, though.

Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy I'll shift the NP435 in my '84 without using the clutch at all, just rev-matching.

Good idea. Hey Fredgoodsell! You were the one who informed me of tsb-0088-16. Brought my Tacoma back to the dealership with that after informing Toyota corporation and two big wigs were there to meet me with the dealership foreman. Following the TSB it was corrected and I haven't had a problem since. Thank you very much

Now that's something I'd never thought of. Thanks for saving me a lot of foolish tries at starting. I guess you'd need a real long steep slope way up in the mountains where you could push start it, jump in and roll it up to 80 mph to get the voltage needed. Just hang on when you pop first gear as you will probably become a hood ornament
