DIY- Clutch replacement?

A buddy of mine burned his clutch on his 2006 Chevy Colorado Z71. He says that it will cost $800 to fix. I'm wondering if I (or my friends) help and do it together.

Will it be a good or bad idea?

 

$800??? Is that including parts? Add it up, if labor calculates to be more than $200 bucks I would do it myself. I have changed about four clutches and none of them were hard just labor intensive. Get the right parts before you start, set aside a full day and you should be good. Its definitely not a complicated task, me and my brothers were dropping trannys and swapping out flywheels, clutches, pressure plates, etc. as soon as we turned 16. Besides, it gives you bragging rights...

 

I think it included everything. Labor and all. I'm trying to help out my friend, because I'm probably the most meachinally inclined in my whole school. No joke. I get calls and texts asking what is wrong with my car/truck. Anyways, He had to get his Power steering replaced and his dad isn't too happy about replacing the clutch.

I have the right parts and everything I'm sure. I'm up for the task. This gives me a BIG challenge. I hope to break down the wall!

 

Might want to figure out why he needs a clutch replacement in a four year old truck.
