I work at a Chevy service department and I have to say the DEF system has been a major headache on the Silverado and Cruze diesels. The Colorado, so far, hasn't been much of a problem.

Diesel is terrible. Because you had one bad experience.

The overall message is Diesel engines aren't what they were 15+ years ago. Emissions and technology have eaten into the benefits of the Diesel engine.

While some of the technology has improved the diesel engines (look at the stock power levels today) a lot of the emissions stuff has made them more problematic, as the emissions areas are where many of the problems arise (DEF, EGR, DPF, etc,)

My buddy has a tuned 6.4 Powerstroke F350 dually, and it is unreal how much power that thing makes.

Strangely satisfying to be smoking 4 huge rear tires :D

I may not post a lot, but I read a lot of the threads you comment on. You must be the life of the party. I'm glad to see an airman is being a true gentleman.

Diesels work fine even with the emissions crap as long as they have a chance to warm up and undergo a regen cycle regularly. If they are just drove around town though a couple of miles each drive you are asking for trouble.

You can always delete the emissions junk but then you kiss good bye to warranty. With injectors going for a grand a pop that's not worth it if you run a bad batch of fuel.

I agree. It's like a lot of things in life. In the end, Diesel is only worth it if you are going to use it like a Diesel.

Probably because you got an autotragic..

Also, its funny how so many people are chiming in about my problematic new diesel situation and agreeing. Including service people at dealerships..

B-but I was generalizing from one experience..

Get real dude. Pick your fights elsewhere..

I have personally owned two 2500HD, 2013 and 2015 GM Diesel trucks and did not have one damn issue with them.

My Colorado has had no issues either when the truck is tuned and deleted 250hp and 490tq, put your foot down from a stop it can spin the 33's with ease. I can do it from a roll even :)

The rest of the world does diesels, the epa ruins the diesel market here. Any DEF system will plug if its driven back and fourth to the mall. Gotta get some freeway or highway speeds to maintain it.

What fight? You make a claim that diesels are terrible because you had one single bad experience with one. Then you turn around and try to say you didn't do that. Make up your mind. o_O You're all over the map, dude.
