Is this going to be a problem for me? I have 10k miles on it. 2nd owner. Very clean truck. I live in Oregon. It's always garaged and cleaned regularly.

What can I do to prevent it, if so?

    Thanks!

got mine rust proofed at a local detailing shop. came with a ten year warranty. did the interior of the doors, hood, tail gate, bumpers and wheel wells with a light film, then the frame and other under body components were coated with a more heavy duty film. I live in a major snow belt with plenty of salt being used. I know others in the area that have used this before and have have very good results over the years. my peace of mind.

I have had my 2015 for two years this May. It has been through two Maryland winters (salt brine loving state) and has 38,000 miles. I spray Fluid Film on it in May and November each year and I have no rust anywhere.

    I don't know anymore!
I frequently run the shoreline of the gulf coast and salinity levels are high. After each trip, I pressure wash the undercarriage and engine. I've used a heavy duty silicone spray with good results with reapplication every 4 months or so. I work for a lubricants manufacturer and we have a Rust Preventative that is heavy, dry and wax based. I'm thinking I'll give that a try next. Small price to pay to hang out with my beach. lol

I'm a FF fan also. My avatar is how I wash off the bottom (garden hose) at least once during the winter. The hose won't remove the FF.

Thanks for the link. Their description is pretty vague. I sent them an email asking what product they use.

ToyoKuhl......price looks reasonable. My 2012 frame has some rust from Metro Detroit salting. What to keep this truck a long time , so this might be an option. Thanks

it is quite vague. i live in marquette mi, which is a smal university town and auto armor has been there for years. the reason i used them was their word of mouth reputation, the 10 year warranty i got with the purchase and asked every dealership in town if that adds value to any trade in or used purchase they make. Answer, "Yes!" The product used on the frame reminds me of line-x to a point

@pvas540 not a problem. I paid $400 even OTD for the rustproofing. The website states that this is windown line down. I forgot to mention they also hit the engine bay with the lighter fluid film. obviously they tried to sell me on other options, like paint protection and so on. i chose not to as i want to do a matte finish to the truck in about 5 + years.

I'm in Duluth, MN. Drove through Marquette a couple times last year in route to Sault Ste Marie for work.

The reason I'm curious is because there's only one place here that does rust proofing and all the body shops refer people to them. The place here uses a product called Waxoyl and I'm not familiar with it. I was curious if your place uses it as well.

Here's a link to the place in Duluth - http://www.absautosolutions.com/pages.aspx?p=321586

@sioux I wish i knew that answer for you. That gives me a good feeling that even businesses in Duluth refer them. I dropped the vehicle off early in the AM and was ready the next day by noon. One thing i must add at this point that peeved me to no end. I am running TC UCAs and they were beautifully aesthetic. That wasn't the reason for the purchase, they are functional and have done their $650 job but looked soo damn good too. When i got the truck back, BLACK. They coated them. my stomach dropped but I did tell myself that i did not inform them not to coat them. and they do the entire wheel well. I spoke with the woman and informed her i wasn't seeking any money back or any remedy as i didn't do my research, however i did tell her i was not happy that her techs couldnt tell that they were aftermarket and might want to check with the owner first. it still makes my stomach churn

Just to clarify, the link I sent you to the Duluth rustproofing place is where our local body shops refer people. I was kinda surprised the body shops don't do it themselves.

Thanks for the heads-up regarding your experience. Good to know that standard procedure is to coat everything. So I need to let them know if there's anything I don't want covered.
