So...the Tacoma I just bought a couple weeks ago came with the 57053 head unit, which in the photo appeared to be the Entune unit. I really really miss my XM but want to keep the oem appearance head unit. So...does anyone know if there is an XM add on for that unit or if the A518B3 is plug and play capable? I understand the Entune head unit is not swappable because of the connections required for Navi and I am fine with that because I prefer my Garmin over the wife's Toyota Navi in her 4Runner anyways. I realize I'd be losing the touchscreen but that is the only quality that the 57053 offers. It really is a bare bones sort of a junker of a head unit anyways in my opinion.

Appears your previous thread was not answered:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/toyota-oem-stereo-57053-xm-upgrade.481342

It appears some of the 2012-2013 radios had XM built into the radio. The 2014-2015 radios had a separate XM receiver.

It also appears the 57053 may have XM included. This is going by the following sale items:

You are correct and my previous post went unanswered. Likely what I will do is upgrade the stock speakers and put the XM app on my phone rather than take a chance of purchased parts not getting me where I want to be. Th ads say that my radio is XM ready but I'd love to hear from somebody that can confirm that they've done the upgrade.

Has anybody been able to confirm my questions regarding the 57053 head unit? I'm frustrated with this radios capabilities but am really a stock appearance guy!

I really just wanted XM capabilities and a little better speakers but yet retain the oem appearance. I know there are a ton of aftermarket options that are better but I'm really stuck on stock appearance.

does this unit (57053) support the back up rear camera when in reverse? i wouldn't mind replacing my basic unit to this one.

    nothing as of yet
Have the same radio in my 13, replacing it. Also have an aftermarket xm tuner, just have to decide the route would like to upgrade too. Do have a single din aftermarket radio new in box or get a double din. Love my xm but factory stereo and speakers is like having cup phones.

Just do yourself a favor and get a new head unit that has XM capabilities. It’ll still look oem if not better and prob sound a little better off the bat

I know this is an old thread, but I changed my 57053 out for a Kenwood and you’d never know it wasn’t factory plus I gained all the perks the OEM didn’t offer! Per the rules I haven’t posted enough to be allowed to sell the OEM unit on this site sadly.
Looking for suggestions for a venue other than EBay or marketplace that has had them for $200-$400. I found them selling somewhere for $800-$1000 but can’t remember the site! Suggestions?

Did you need to add a module to make the steering wheel buttons functional again?

No thankfully. I used a Crux harness and the wires were there although mislabeled. After a few calls to customer service and pulling the unit twice, we finally the combination right and I have full steering wheel controls now! We were unable to re-use the Factory microphone though but the kit came with one that is actually clearer. The backup camera is still in the mirror but I’m good with that.

Good point! I’m going to try it on EBay and see what happens.
