Sleeping platform with storage. Cooler/ nite stand ,my mr. buddy heater and solar panel on window going to battery under sleeping platform to 600w inverter.

Great job! I used full length double hook turnbuckles to connect from my eye bolts to the bed tie downs. And rubber instead of carpet for mud clean up. And dog hair. I also did not do a cut out in front of the platform, I used a 1x2 to reinforce the lip. Cabela's deluxe cot pad and it is very comfy, can sit up and good room for gear, dog and me.

Perspective is hard to see in this night time picture but basically the same setup. For more than a few days hunt with the dog or snow I will pitch a tent or find a cabin. But for quick overnight setup anywhere I want it works great.

Don't have a cap but I made a tent out of a kids tent and I used the snaps ony cover to hold it down.

Who made your rear bumper? I was looking at one very similar with the swing arm for the spare from Brute Force for $1300.

 

This is my dream set up. Simple, but effective. I have a SB, so I want to make the most out of my space. Was the box a simple set up? Do you have dimensions?

I dig this a lot. I like the idea of a shelf vs a full platform.

 

@steveo27 yeah I would love the full platform with drawers if I had a taller shell, but I'm digging this solution. Also the 'wings' on either side of the platform serve as a nice little table space when you're sitting up to work on something or eat/drink

 

I have a question for you guys who have built platforms in the bed of your trucks. What boards are you using to lay in the cutouts on each side of the bed? I remember measuring that notch and the only board I could find at Lowes/Home Depot that would fit was a 1x5. It fits with no cutting, but it's a bit flimsy. Are you guys using a wider board and notching it to fit?

 

2x6, notched on the ends about I" long by 3/4" deep.

Here's mine.

3/4" plywood deck, supports and drawer boxes. 60" slides. (I have a 6' bed.)



The left side deck has a cut-out for my Engel fridge.



Two 60" drawers:





An air compressor is on the left side, forward of the yellow air hose. The right side holds a tarp and hammer for tent stakes.

It is a little heavy, and the long slides are heavy too. However, functionally it is wonderful.

 

what did you do to your suspension to handle that load?
are your bedsides spreading with that cap on it?
what's the purpose of the marine carpet on the inside of the tailgate?
nice slides, they look more than adequate
