I am driving 4 hours one way, to have ECGS rebuild my stuff. If you do the work yourself, aka buy a pre-assembled set, you will save some coin.

Yeah I would definitely put a pre-assembled in myself, though I haven't looked into how involved it is if I want to install the locker and gears into my current third yet. I might go that route as well and hopefully learn something new.

I think if you do it yourself, its pretty involved, and you need to have special tools to setup backlash. I dont have the time/knowledge to do all of that. Im leaving it to the professionals

I'll likely end up going that route as well, but it would be interesting to learn for sure

Just buy 3rds from ECGS, it comes to 1250 iirc plus a 5yr warranty on top of it.

The rear is super easy to swap, the front is a different story. It's possible to do the front solo but it sucks especially if your doing it on the ground, much easier with an extra set of hands

If I ever get my hands on a spare set of diffs I really want to give it a try myself, the rear I'm confident in but the front looks like a challenge

That is exactly my dilemma. No garage to work in, no lift. It would have to be all driveway work. And i dont want to make the neighbors angry by leaving my truck apart in my driveway for a few days.

It is a positive that ECGS is 4 hours away. The drive back will suck, but at least it will take care of 300 of the break in miles.

I did mine outside in front of my storage unit, no lift just hand tools. I did have to leave the truck overnight but only to cure the gasket maker. It's doable in a day.

Break in period is 500 miles btw and yes that drive back will suck. 15 min, cool down, 30 min, cool down, 50miles and cool down from there of out. Should double or more your drive time home, you'll likely spend more time driving home than it would to change out your thirds at home with a friend

Eh, still think the drive home would suck. But time off work is always good

That cheap? Really?! I thought it was at least double that with rear locker and 4.56s

I'm still debating between that and 4.56. I'm leaning towards better economy because extra power doesn't really appeal to me as much :turtleride:

Well also remember a locker. I think after the core return its $2200 with gears and one ARB locker. Maybe more for you since you're in Canada

I can ship to Washington and pick it up there, but yeah, 2200 USD turns into 3000 Canadian rupees

I assume you read the break in procedure. It's gonna be a long trip home with frequent stops. Some advice. DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH BREAK IN!

That's just gears, no additional lockers

Ah I see, that makes more sense. And is a good deal considering just the gears is like $1100 or something

Took me a while but I found my build thread buried.

But I am working on some big stuff for the truck so the shell needed to come off for some measurements and just a better visual in general. The upcoming week Im gonna try and bring the bike with me to work so having the cap off works out well
