Just grab the mirror like you are going to adjust it and push it up Towards the headliner, then tilted back down to readjust, it is now up probably an inch and a half higher than it was.

Honey, how are your gears working out? I'm looking towards regearing by summertime, if I don't lose my mind by then with work and school.

After all the problems that I shouldn't have had have been worked out, they seem to be fine now. I can only hope they last now. It definitely drives a lot better than before regearing. Was a must after the lift and tires.

Good to know. Hows the mileage? Significant increase, or only minor? I know a lot of that is dependent on tires/lift/etc but just to get a vague idea. You got your gears polished/trimmed/cut or something, right? I'm forgetting the term for the procedure.

No, they were just put in directly from Nitro. I would think the first 500 miles during break in period would polish them up naturally, then the oil is changed. I have gotten 19 mpg's on some short runs, and 14 on others. Guess it really depends on speed, wind direction and starting and stopping. So no big increase in mileage but definitely runs much better and 6th gear is actually useable over 65 miles per hour where before pretty much ran in 5th gear because not enough RPMs to keep that beast going down the highway in 6th gear.

Cool man, thanks for the info! I'm driving from Madison to the Dells for work 2-3 days a week so I figured it would be prudent to look into some cost saving plans....so I bought a motorcycle and I'm regearing my truck.

Seems like the right way to do things.

I also have the AFE cold air intake with dynol scoop and Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust. They were on before the gears we're done and I still could not go down the highway in sixth gear. I personally don't know how anybody can drive these trucks with a lift and tires without regearing and not going out of their mind. On the second gen I could see getting away with it but not on these 3rd gens.

After the latest TSB my transmission has been much more cooperative. I still wouldn't qualify it as spectacular but it's much less terrified of inclines now.

I had the revision 1 tsb done also. Did notice a little bit of a difference, but I still don't think without the gears I will be happy. Even with the gears I think it's just borderline cutting it! Hope for better weather for you for driving a motorcycle. And be careful Reckless people out there not paying attention to you.

There's a great place in Roswell. I don't remember the name, but they were, for a while, the only 3M products dealer and installer. My recommendation is go with ceramics.

Installed Locking Storage Doors. These are by Mobtown Off-road. They are heavy duty and both doors are keyed alike. I don't have to worry about my tie downs walking away anymore!

I put a receiver hitch on my new one yesterday. Then I had to test it out today. drug this piece of shit chevy half way across the state of Pa. IMG_2708.jpg
As an added bonus I got go myth busting while on this journey. Myth: You burn more gas the faster you go. What actually happened: Myth confirmed! 19mpg running on 50% ethanol free/50% with 10% ethanol 87 octane traveling 75-85 mph with about 700lbs of tools and flesh and an empty car dolly weighing I think 600lbs. while 23.5 mpg running at 45-55 mph with 25% ethanol free/75% with 10%. Loaded down with everything as mentioned before with the addition of a 4.3L 5speed RWD S-10. ect used the whole time both times. And did I mention Its only a 4 banger?
