What ya building brother? Just FYI I'm a little over 7 months deep in my Form 1 for my SBR and its been pending for 2 months now... Just called on the 27th, they said they are still approving July, and my money was taken August 26th. They said don't expect until late May... I have been way too patient, especially when they cash your check the day after they get it but don't actually "get to it" until months later.

I had to wait 15 months for a suppressor. So 6-8 months aint nothing :) Course that just ended up being at the like worst time to by NFA items too lol.

I have a Sons of liberty gun works 300 BLK pistol I'm turning into an SBR. I posted it a little while back with the specs but just wanting to figure out my stock while I wait :p I figured I have about 9 months of waiting at this point. I wanna build a pretty light and quiet SBR for close range for them pigs here in Texas. Just need to find the right stock and suppressor for it now. I'll do the form 4 with the next 2-3 months. Gotta close on the house at the end of the this month and then recoupe

Problem is that thread would have a long time between posts. Been waiting since August for a couple of stamps. Maybe just a few more months.

I honestly don't see what the great fascination is with wanting to get an SBR???......but obviously thats just my opinion. A can, ya!....an SBR ??????

Combining the two is when it gets great. An 8" suppressor on a 10.5" rifle is very handy.

But in the end, your only making the whole system 5 1/2 inches shorter. I understand people that want it in the statement of,
    "just because we can".
But that seems like a lot of headache for a 5 1/2 inch gain!

Hell, I've Heard you can get that from a "pump" and it only cost 15 bucks and You don't didn't have to wait, LOL

The length makes a difference deploying in a vehicle, my 7.5" SBR is actually usable in my truck whereas my 16" carbine is not. Being able to legally shoulder is a plus, shouldering it allows me to make accurate hits at distance without relying on a sling.

And yes, I know they make even shorter barrel than 10 1/2. But for all the headache I'll stick to my A.R. pistols and have the same configuration.

Then why not use an A.R. pistol and skip all the tax stamp, are you really going to shoulder it in your truck?

I have a SBR & a pistol that are set up pretty much the same . The stock just feels better and it more versatile. IMO its worth the $200 and the wait sometimes with some guns .
An SBR does have its downsides though & thats why I will keep some rifles just as pistols to avoid the NFA regulations.

You also have to remember that an AR pistol brace didn't exist before a few years ago, and AR pistol builds weren't very popular before that. I built my SBR in '09. There are legal issues with shouldering a brace as I'm sure you know, and there's nothing keeping the ATF from taking a hard line on braces or even pistol builds tomorrow. They've always been a gray area.

Gray, they have been. Then why not pin and weld the can to the end of your short barrel and put yourself right back to 16 inch and skip the SBR stamp?

For LEO's I can certainly see the need for SBR's and adversely military. But it's just my honest belief that for most people, it just falls into that category of "just because I can" when in actuality, there's not very many practical uses.

Yea but it will eventually catch momentum as new people upload their waits while others are getting theirs. Doesnt have to be just new people that go the stamp. It could be people that have gotten them and their times. And its a BS thread too

Here's the problem with welding the can on. What if you have multiple rifles you wanna switch the suppressor with? You just wasted a cool $900 to have one quiet rifle. I prefer to have the SBR for the stability of the stock vs the brace but as you said to each their own. I think its worth the $200 and because I can
