    Sounds like A. the switch is wired to a constant power source. B. you might have the relay wired incorrectly. and C. idk about the other issues. did the lights come with a wiring diagram?

    For the starting thing, try readjusting your battery terminals. I know it sounds silly, but if the truck detects even the smallest arc, it'll abort mission. Once I had to jump start a buddy's Sierra and I moved the positive terminal an infinitesimally small amount. Had the same symptoms. Readjusted both terminals and have been fine ever since.
