hey Corey, so to remove the oem, did you just use one or two plastic pry tool to remove the reflecting part of the mirror from the mirror housing? Was it hard to take apart? Did you do it while the housing was still attached to the door, or did you remove the entire assembly? And finally, the back side of the replacement reflecting mirror from RAV4, does the tabs and locating pins match the complementary side of the mirror housing. Here's an image of the mirror housing w/o the mirror from a RAV4. [IMG]

I just used the power mirror and tilted the glass all the way down and got behind it with my fingers and popped it off carefully. Once it was off i unplugged the two heater wires then got the new mirror put on the heater wires. Then got a microfiber towel and put the new mirror up and gently pressed in the center until the new glass popped on!

    I sold it.
Loved everything about it except the transmission and power delivery. I'm not going to dive further into this. Perhaps I'm just a picky guy.
This site has been a great help to me and I appreciate everyone's help along the way.

Looks like that will buff out with a cutting compound, yellow/microfiber pad and a DA buffer.

I'm pretty sure I was pressing the mirror piece up pretty hard. Enough to fear it would break. Maybe it's already in the up position, if that's the case it's still low for my taste. I'll confirm by pressing down on it to see.

What year is your truck, trying to see if my 2016 AC has that option. I tried sliding it up on what looks like a sliding rail but it won't move.

So true, black cars/trucks very difficult to keep looking good. I wonder how many people own exactly one black vehicle in their life and are like "Never Again"? (I'm one)

I have a 16 dbcb sport. It doesn't slide up. It is like double hinged one right at the mirror and one back about 2 inches. You just kind of hold the mirror and push up toward the headliner as you tilt the mirror back down towards you. You should be able to look behind it and see if it looks like what I have explained. Maybe you have a different Mount I don't know.

Here's a picture of the back of the mirror from my 17 ACLB TRD OR.
At the top of the mount is one pivot point and down where the mount meets the mirror is the other. Those are the two pivot points that let you rotate it up and then level it.
There is NO sliding the mirror up. It rotates UP from the mount end where it attaches to the windshield. Then you rotate the end at the mirror to level it so you can see out the back.

there's an Allen screw in the base you need to loosen. I just installed the Bird Dawg riser and if you unscrew that a little, it basically falls off.

Same, I still own my first and last black car a 2011 BMW 328i coupe. Now I went with a Silver 2017 Tacoma.
