UPDATED:am i the only one with this issue? media system restarting without reason

revision 2 for the radio update TSB launched yesterday. just sayin'...

 

I had the same issue, but it went away after doing the TSB update. I still get some oddball stuff from time to time, but not like the constant resetting it was doing. Get the update and you should be good to go.

 

What issues does the Rev 2 address?

never mind... now the whole TSB is there.

 

bottom section of page 2. yeah i changed to the whole TSB when i figured everyone would ask what exactly it addressed.
for the record, my truck did have the low fuel light not come on and some bluetooth info not show up a few times... i didnt care though.
i also removed the vehicle speed signal wire from the radio so i can switch on and off the DRL's (Switchback LED's) on the fly.
i have heard of a few cases of some radios still rebooting randomly even after the original update was done.

 

Hey @Murrayb4, I'm trying to download the update file from the Rev2 you posted and I get a window that says..."security warning"... and says "allow"/"block"/"cancel"..... "allow" does not work... any ideas??

I had a 2016 SR 5 and it would rebooted as well

 

That link is simply a PDF of the TSB with the revised info.
I am not allowed to publicly post a link to download the files. They are stored on Toyota's secure servers.

As far as I know, the PDF is virus free. Or else my techstream has faulty antivirus software.

Way to go, overly-sensitive-windows-security.

 

I learned about some hidden diagnostics menus today. Not much useful in them, but it is interesting.

Engine off, key on accessory (two clicks)
Press and hold either apps or audio (each brings up a different menu)
Turn headlights on and off several times while still pressing and holding either apps or audio.
*I wouldn't change anything if you don't know what it does*

 

yes, this is the diagnostic menu. it will show error codes and satellite info(on vehicles with GPS), speed sensors, microphone levels, and a few other adjustments.

nice radio knobs! i may need to get a set!

 

The volume on mine would sometimes suddenly cut out for no reason after the first update. Have turn the car on and off to get it too work.

Mine does this on occasion.

 

If I am backing up (backing out of a driveway for instance) and get a text message (iPhone 7 Plus), mine will reboot like clockwork...Easily repeatable, easy to duplicate...2017 Limited 4x4 with the following software:
Audio - 010189
Audio System - 000099
Dsp Module - A10010

 

The updates also fix some things that aren't listed. It's worth trying. Once updated, and it still has a concern, the dealer will replace the radio assuming you're still under warranty

nope. it is just a copy of the TSB. as stated previously, we cannot publicly post a copy of the actual update file.

 

This is one of the issues I was just in for that was NOT taken care of. Grrr... They told me there was no update available. My current audio version is 01017D which according to the tsb is not the current version so I am sure they are wrong. I didn't have a copy of the tsb with me or the time to argue with them so I guess I'll just have to deal with it until I'm in there the next time -- unless someone who knows where the file can be located can PM me and let me know so I can just update the thing myself (wink, wink).
