I know I'm a few pages behind but I was actually looking at grk rss screws on Home Depot's website earlier. They had a comparison video of how many you can drive with a cordless drill on 1 battery compared to regular lag screws of the same size. They ran twice as many of theirs before the battery died.

I thought that was pretty impressive.

    Today was a good day

6 hours with the crane and we got all of our beams and rafters placed with no major dramas and good fits all around

Tomorrow we will begin the job of fine tuning the placements and installing all the fasteners

Got a plumbing question if anyone can help. Had a leak from the second floor bathtub when the wife was using it the other night. I replaced the drain o-ring or gasket or whatever you want to call it 2 years ago when the wife found out the overflow was not connected to anything and dumped right into the ceiling. From what i can tell, the leak looks like it is coming from the floor drain. I'm thinking the issue may possible be this gasket not sealing on the tub surround. This stuff looks like real, real rough fiberglass. Any tips on getting this gasket

Sealing up against this type of surface?

Not a plumber but maybe try some type of rtv? A bead around the tub side of the gasket seems like it should seal.

I spent a few hours out in the rain starting on the dogs kennel. Got all the framing done. Tomorrow I hope to get the roof all on. Still need to pick up the siding, weld wire, and finish the door. Spent a good bit talking to the neighbor who popped over the fence too which is always nice. And yes its a mix of PT and regular lumber. The PT wood is going ot be exposed but the regular lumber will have siding over it.

Rubber gasket shouldn't need sealed with anything but a lil %100 silicone won't hurt anything lol
I'd make sure you have the underside of the drain basket sealed to floor of tub either with plumbers putty or silicone. I prefer silicone :)

I read that plumbers putty with a fiberglass tub is not recommended. This may be where i went wrong the first time. i used tub caulking around the drain basket the last time, but it wasn't 100% silicone. When i pulled the drain out it looked like it was sort of crumbling, the caulking that is. So i bought a tube of 100% silicone. I think i'll get a new rubber gasket, put the silicone sealer on the gasket and the drain basket and see what happens.

if you have soft soil...if its compacted/clay with shale those things dont work at all...at least it didnt for me;)

It should be smooth on the bottom of the drain so the rubber seals correctly.

Even with the rafters pre-drilled on the ground making the bolted connections is proving to be more time consuming than I thought

It shouldn't go anywhere though lol

    This post to rafter connections has 3 , 1/2" x 18" lags

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
@OZ-T if I want to beef up my floor so the grout doesn't crack... should I add metal x-bridging to my joists? I know it flexes a lot. I need to go down there soon and check to see what kind of bridging is already there. I am guessing its poor if there is.

Bridging will solve some lateral movement....but not vertical.Unless you do the seams.

I probably could. I can stand up underneath that section of my house. I am just trying to get the grout to not crack when I install it later.
