So how is ground clearance measured? From the ground to what part of the truck?

 

The rear diff is lowest of course, but the reality is the tacoma has a wheel base of some 127inches give or take.

The highest point of the truck is the antenna, which sits closer to the rear wheels than it does the front.

If the front end is raised 1inch it will not mean that the whole truck body will rise equally.

Or in the simplest example when you lift the handles of a wheel barrow you aren't actually lifting the dirt the same amount as the handles.

Therefore toyota slapping an extra inch on top dimensions above the rest is pretty shady.

 

My $2k for the suspension remark was for all the suspension differences between Pro and OR. Shocks alone I wouldn't expect to be more than $150 each for the rear and maybe $200 for the front. That's going by the current Fox 2.0 and 2.5 pricing. Then you have custom valving ontop if Fox don't sell their generic shock with this valving.

 

If all cars are build equally I agree, but they are not. I can assure you that the bottom lip of the plastic wheel arch on my front fender is not in the identical position to yours in relation to the exact same spot on the frame. Also guessing at the center of the wheel is not accurate at all between people, I would be 1/4 out from you, and when measuring an inch or so difference, that's a lot.
The only true measurement between different vehicles (assuming wheels / tires are the same) would be a similar spot on the frame against the ground (assuming level / flat ground).

 

It's a "law suit" thing I'm sure. I agree the height of the Pro is not 1" higher as it's only the front that gets a lift (to my knoladge). But if the highest point on the Tacoma is 70.6" and they know they added 1" to the front suspension, the "safest" thing to state is 71.6 on the pro. A complete assumption here and based on no facts from Toyota, but coming up with the 70.6" number probably cost a LOT of money, and going through that expense again wasn't worth it, so they added 1" to be safe.

Everyone's suspension will settle differently as it depends on so many variables, I'm sure you could pick two 100% stock OR with exact same mileage and they would have a least 1" maybe even 2" difference in height.

 

NO!. Same argument I had with the dealer rep when I got my PRO about 1" higher BS. We compared 5 Tacos in the lot of different models and ALL had the same height. Measured from the ground to fender plastic flare bottom.
