    c load.
after a few days of chalk testing at different pressure's, 32/24 worked the best.
I know, it sounds weard. thats how i felt when i kept going down in pressure to get a good tire patch and chalk test.
But have been running them since summer, smooth on the highway, great in the snow.
I think its just because the rear end is so light, 24 psi works fine.

here they are at 32 front / 24 rear psi
they dont look flat at all, and you can actually see the even wear pattern on the tire.

Tires, mounted, wheels painted, and center caps changed out. I really like the look (I guess I better since no going back now). The Duratracs really complete the look.

Just took off those silly chrome door handle covers, and the black looks real good with the red truck and black wheels. Will add some glamor shots of the truck later.

So, forgive me for being ignorant, but what's the gig here. Pressure optimization for tire wear, maximum contact patch, what else? Why not just 35/35, like the tire guy says -- are my above mentioned items pretty much the deal? Also, load range is ply, which is carcass thickness, right? I realize the theory behind a thicker carcass, can take more damage, more durability, etc. Higher pressures are needed because the carcass is thicker, and requires more pressure to stay inflated? Other than probably tearing the tire up, are there any reason for 10 ply tires? They are able to not only withstand more damage, (say from snagging a jagged rock), but they also have the capability of bearing greater loads, right? Does this compromise tire wear, (make the tire wear faster or slower), and or gas mileage?

Sorry for the million questions, but I think I know what's going on, but I want to know I know whats going on. if that makes sense. whatever. I'm out.

As for the pressure, if i put 35 psi in the back only the center of the tire would get used, plus then i would not have good traction. Right now if i drive over a salty parking lot or dirty road, something that will show what part of my tires is actually touching the street, you would see on the tires that the entire tire pattern is marked execpt for about 1/8 inch on the outside edges. So that means im using the entire tire pattern, not just the center like when over inflated, not just the outer edges like when under inflated. This gives me maximum traction and even tire wear.

As for the C and E tires, I dont do any rock crawling, i dont tow a heavy trailer, and so i didnt need the E rated tires. With the E rated tires they are probably heavier, so that would effect gas milage. Thicker so you would need more psi.

Not trying to make a big deal about this, i know some go to the extreme.
Just stating i found 32/24 psi works great for me, but i have nothing in the back of my shortbed. Im sure each truck will vary some, but give it try and see.

I'll try it out, thanks! I was pretty much on about that stuff then, but I just wanted to make sure. I don't tow or really crawl that nasty, so I think I'll also go with the C's. I'll play with the pressures and see what I get. We get into the 100's here during the summer, so I imagine the summer pressure numbers should be even lower than posted.

On a side note --- Just got my FJ rims today, gonna haggle the discount tire folks a few more days, should have the tires on next week.

Do they happen to come in a 20'' rim size? like a 33x10.50?

for that size they may be pricy.

But check locally for any deals, state the price of the BFG and see if they match.
