So the excessive rusting, poor shifting, squeeky doors, 4X4 not engaging in cold weather prompted me to post this......
Toyota's quality is not even close to what I expected. I was set on buying a Toyota because owning junk bothers me. I am fast learning that Toyota is an arrogent company, apparently in decline. I am not impressed. Not to mention my frosty mirrors, on a truck that sells for $40000 taxes in in Canada. My radio seems like some cheapo radio shack job with buttons that squeek when pushed....what the heck. And the muddy sound and weak bass is not impressive either. And where's my damn tailgate lock? And my Off Road packaged truck with the trailer wiring connector hanging below the hitch, I suppose I'm not actually supposed to go off road with it.
Toyota better get with the program, or this is my last. I'm glad I leased this truck, as I will be able to walk away when the lease is up. Too bad I got rid of my '09, as the only issue it had was a radio that was possessed.....
Feel free to check out the pictures of my 4 month old rusty bumper - WHAT A JOKE! Funny how the Toyota salespeople regularly talk about how rust is "no longer an issue" with Toyotas. Like when my wifes 2005 Echo got recalled for free rust proofing. Arrogent, dishonest company....

First off, did you even test drive and look at the truck? All I gotta say to about 90% of what you said. Frosty mirrors, there's no option for heated... you should have known this before leasing. There's a cheap mod for it though, look at the links above. The engagement issue... once you engage it a few times and use it more, it'll engage easier... this happens with pretty much all the 4x4's from what I understand.

As for the chrome rust thing... try just wiping it off, it's building on a layer above the chrome. At least, for most users it is.

Also.. as for the factory radio sounding like crap... tell me what factory radio is actually good lmao. I've yet to see one, including my former '05 G35 coupe with Bose (yuck).

Yeah the reason they have car washes and wax

I am getting a laugh out of a lot of people here. It is like they expect Toyota to be some kind of super thing.
No rust, run on air, never have to clean the windows , stuff like that LOL

Factory radio sounds fine and I have a stubby antenna .

Chrome polish will take that little bit of surface rust right off. Just follow that with a good quality wax and consider the problem solved! As far as the radio is concerned...like kyouto42 said "what factory radio is good?"

are you out east in canada where every vehicle rusts out in 3 yrs. Sell it buy a ford fag150 and chrome it out and you'll be fine. IS TW TURNING INTO THE TACOMA RANT OR WHAT its like a bunch of whinners you probably never wash it go thru touchless crap. Maintain it and it will last mines and '05 with not a single issue 60000 miles the only beef i got is the gas mileage is not great since I added 10 ply tires my own fault though. otherwise best truck ever for me

Yeah, I''m wrong to expect a 4 month old truck that gets washed weekly and highway driven, to not rust in 4 EFFING MONTHS!
I just got rid of a 95 Dakota, bumper was only rusty in 1 spot from a collision.

Alot of chrome bumpers get surface rust on them. Just take care of it and it wont rust plain and simple. My dad had a chrome roll bar on his old 92 and it would build up surface rust over time. We just polished it and waallaa! By by rust and hello chrome.

Doesn't take away my bitching rights because they don't offer it. I have bought the heated lenses, I just haven't had a chance to wire them. And I cannot believe people do that hillbilly glue job mod, when the heated lenses are $40 a piece.

You understand wrong. There is a problem, I'm waiting for the part. I'm talking about 4WD taking 20 minutes to engage, not 20 seconds.

Chrome polish is not for a defective bumper (Toyota is going to replace it), it is for old rusty beaters. Or if age has rusted it, a highway driven vehicle from western canada should not have this problem

    Any honda vehicle.

Sory to burst your bubble people, but I drive a crappy 2006 Chevy 1 ton for work with 126K, and it has less defects. Really disapointing. Nice to see there are plenty of people that expect less than domestic level of quality in there Toyota. Toyotas will continue to sell well,
