You are complaining about lack of room in your current vehicle, its a regular. they are meant to be small.

and then ur having a problem with the suspension yet ur attracted to a vehicle with a suspension TSB on it???

i'm a little confused. why stick with tacoma and not go another route if ur not happy with it??

You misunderstood. I had 3 complaints about the reg cab 1st generation Tacoma - but the sucker is 7 years old and has been mechanically reliable for me for the past 4 years. I need to upgrade though because my needs changed.
I have looked at other trucks as I like mid-sized trucks and I think I'll be sticking with them for the rest of my life or until fuel resources run dry.
If you follow reviews on them you'll see that people say the Tacoma is the best in it's class.
I won't go for the noticable plastic-toy-looking bumper on the Dodge Dakota...whose V6 can only tow half of what the 2nd generation Tacomas can, plus have lower fuel economy than the V6 Tacoma!
As you know I won't go for the small-sized pickups like the 1st-generation Tacoma or Ford Ranger anymore. And don't get me started on the Chevy Colorado...who the hell puts 5 cylinders in their engines?
Nissan Frontier stock suspension and turning radius sucks! Their Nizmo off road package is in limited production. So I don't have the chance to drive it in my area.
Besides the competetion mid-sized trucks don't look as good as the new Tacomas exterior/interior. Or have the kind of options available - sport/off-road, side airbags, build in bed liner, etc. Nissan might be the exception with regards to options available.

OK makes more sense now.......as far at the supercharger.....its not really worth it in my opinion......the 4.0 tacomas come with 236HP and that engine can pull. the 70 extra HP is cool but for $4,000 its not worth it. get a few things that will boost ur Hp like a cold air intake (the K&N intake is ratefd to give you 10HP) and an aftermarket exhaust. Now ur talking $800-$1,000 as opposed to $4,000

    Hey people,
Bad news on the TRD supercharger front but good news on the final truck year decision:
First the good news: I decided to go with a silver '09 double cab short bed 4X4 with the TRD Sport package (with the hood scope and backup camera) because I like the backup camera feature. And since I do reverse parking all the time, I can tell how far I am to the curb.
Then the Bad news: You can't finance the supercharger accessory with the truck (in other words "cash on delivery" for the kit)! It's going cost to $4.5k with an extra $625 to install the supercharger and an extra $300 in labor to install the fuel injectors that come in the kit. Also, the supercharger is not yet compatible with the '09 Tacoma! I can't really explain it, but the parts guy told me that in a month or two, TRD will come out with the necessary parts/procedures/firmware to flash the '09 Tacoma's computer for the supercharger to cope with the engine/transmission.
Now I test drove the truck and it has sufficient power (hell the 4X4 can tow max 6,500 lbs). So I don't think the supercharger is neccessary...but I saw the new 2009 Frontiers, and the stock engine delivers more horsepower/torque than the '09 Tacoma! But it can tow max 6,300 lbs.
So I'm more fueled to get the supercharger.

The Tacoma weighs less so the power to weight ratio is about the same.

Yeah that's a good price you got. Not much change in the '09 model when compared to the '08. Tailights are LED, side airbags and VSC standard, and also have a backup camera. I negotiated my dc TRD Sport 4X4 automatic to 28k (MSRP $30,875) so your final price was slightly better than mine with regards to reduction from MSRP. But in the end I didn't buy because I found out the supercharger was not compatable with the '09 model yet. I'll be buying in a month or two when I hear that the supercharger is compatable.
Can't make up my mind on the supercharger, but just incase I decide to get it, I want to make sure TRD is able to put their supercharger on the '09.

    Poleman:

If you haven't already bought, here's 2 things to think about:

Avoid the Fronteirs, as the Tacoma has it beat - there's a post in here with a video that makes the choice a no-brainer. Additionally, you mentioned space - I found that the Tacoma had much better legroom.

What's the draw for a 4x4? If you just want speed, I'd assume the 4x2 would be a better option as I speculate there might be less weight (somebody that knows more care to speak up?). Additionally, the 4x2 will get better MPG to a certain degree if I remember right.

4x2 and 4x4 with same engine size get about the same mpg (ie 2wd vs 4wd V6, 2wd vs 4wd 4cyl). Only way to get a big difference is to compare 4cyl to V6. It's typically 1-2mpg in 4wd vs 2wd according to most of the mpg reports on here.

    They didn't.

I remember my dad getting pulled over in his 65 Brenda Lee for not stopping at stop sign, no seat belts, I don't think there were belts in it at all, they used to be an "option", me standing in the passenger foot well, holding onto the dash, my mom holding me by the waist, so I could see out the windshield.

Should be able to. I don't think they changed the motor for 09. Maybe the computer programming.
