But they are effective year round as well. That's when conditions come into play. In spring, the brook trout & landlocked salmon hammer em!

I normally start out with streamers when no other action is going on. Wolly buggers are my fave, white, olive, and black. Used up all my grizzly versions and need to get tying up some more of them.

Ditto, I know what WB's are, they are my "go to" fly as well. I would love to see a pic of slump buster.

One of my favorite fishing memories as a kid was trolling grey ghosts (double hooks of course lol) around some lakes in a canoe near Baxter state park. We didn't catch any salmon but did get a hold of some brookies
I don't see those classic streamers so much anymore lol

High water here right now. I spent two hours the other day picking the banks with big white, then black WB's. Nothing. Had two short strikes, but no takers. Water was so fast, it was only getting short 5-6 second drifts (if you want to call it that). So then I started casting 45deg downstream and swinging them, and slow stripping it back to me. Normally works, but nothing. I'm so ready to start pounding these stockies. Sad part, another 2" of rain today, and everything is back to flood stage in most creeks I fish.

I like the royal coachman, mickey finn, spruce fly, black ghosts, black nose dace, etc. They are always good for a fish or two.
