    :D

This helps explain the massive disparity in MPG reported on here.

It seems so few can even get EPA ratings, and then someone comes on with averages of ~25mpg.

A 10mpg swing in averages for what is basically the same vehicle is out of the norm at minimum.

    Fuelly.com sees ~18-19 average.

I'm getting not better mpgs than a full-size GM truck with the 6.2 liters of fun!

If you can drive @ 50mph non stop on level ground with no wind, you can get great numbers. If I fill up and do the math, it's the same as my 17 year old Ford Ranger, 21--22

I was a little better on my old 2.3L 94 Ranger 2WD. It got 23-24. New taco gets 21 but carries 1000 more lbs, is 4x4, 60 more hp, 245 vs 205 tires, higher and bigger. Pretty good trade off IMHO.

To all the people posting 28+ mpg dash pics and claiming that's what their truck gets. You seriously think anyone believes you are getting 600miles out of a tank?

I find 45 mph in 6th (MT) will yeild me instantaneous readings at or above 30 mpg. At 60, I can do low 20s consistently. At 75, I'm 18 at best, 15 at worst.

Stupid blue line is always mocking me.

I never allow my tank to drop below 3/4.

Post a trip average after you've drive 20 or 30 miles and you turn the truck off.

So basically your results are skewed.

Even in THAT picture you're only doing 35. If all I drove was 35 in 5th, and then always reset the computer by refilling, my numbers would look like yours.

Why would you drive in 5th gear when the manual transmission has 6? Also why would you drive at 35 mph in 5th gear?

So essentially you're saying I'm "tricking" the computer and it should not be trusted. Cool. :blahblah:

    Stock and staying that way
Cold starts and short trips hurt fuel economy the most in my limited experience.

The benefits of warm weather are often negated by the desire for air conditioning.

My tanks average about 15 mpgs. Mostly because of NYC stop and go traffic and also I adle the truck to warm it up and if I'm sitting waiting it's usually on. If I take the highway home late at night in. 25 mile trip I usually get 20 to 22 mpgs

Gee I don't know... why don't you explain it too us.

I'm saying you're tricking the computer and US! You post these inflamed numbers without explanation. Other guys on here are beating their brains out trying to replicate what you're doing, when all you're doing is driving slow in high gear with a clean slate every other day.

I can see your needles dude. I know what you're doing. There's no reason to lie.

Edit: Getting an "A" in the one and only college class you take, then telling everyone you got a 4.0 is misleading.

He posts this ALL the time, as if we believe he's getting that MPG on a complete tank.

Unfortunately some people DO believe him. And meanwhile he sits back and giggles thinking he's outsmarting everyone.

No, he needs a 100 mile trip with a GPS track that shows speeds, and the picture of the trip average.

I also want to see that this miles per US gallon. Not miles per Imperial gallon.

I thought I was getting low 20's until I found the setting and now I'm in the upper teens.

Bone stock. Never seen mine above 20.2 mpg. Road and highway miles and I'm easy on the pedal.

I think if we're going to do this and make it somewhat valid we should really give an average speed and driving conditions
