Why doesn't anyone own an SR5?

The first Tacoma I test drove was an SR5. When I got home and the wife asked how I like it, I commented on how rough it was, but I did like the truck. It wasn't until a few weeks later I found out the OR had different suspension. And while it isn't 5100's, it is Bilstein and the ride is soooo much better. From what I hear, 5100's provide pretty much the same ride. I guess I'll know for sure soon enough. I ordered mine from Headstrong on Monday.

I have a SR5 4X4 2012 Pyrite Mica with the towing package and it works for me. I didn't care what package it was. I knew I was going to lift it and change the crappy stock tires.
It now rides on Bilstein 5100, OME 885 coils and an AAL. It gave it close to a 3" lift and I put 265x75x16 cooper ATP tires. I'm able to keep up with the Sports and OR trucks.

It's all personal choice. For me, the 5100's are a superior shock over the stock shocks. Better built, better valving provides a smoother ride, but a more controlled ride. The front shocks have the ability to provide some lift by moving the position of a clip on the shock body. I do not desire a lift so I keep the clip on the 'zero' position. I plan on keeping my truck close to stock, with a 1.5 AAL and 5100's. I installed a Leer cap and haul tools in the back, my reasoning for the AAL. My opinion, for the money, you can not buy a better shock than the 5100's.

Lol this is the most over simplification I ever read on here!
I mean I didn't buy a 32000 truck for a F'in hood scoop... Its the only trim that came with a 6 speed manual in AC... and various other reasons that other people have.

Is there reason to believe that the hood scoop has absolutly no function besides looking good? I think it could have at least a heat dissipation function.

I used to have a fox body mustang as a daily driver, manual with a heavy clutch, no cup holders

    The struggle is real.

    Sure do miss it though!

That's exactly why I didn't want any of that. I came from a loaded bimmer, and all that extra stuff was a maintenance nightmare for me. At around 100k, everything on the inside started falling apart. I finally parted ways with it at 200k, but not without putting too many weekends worth of work in to it.

So when it came time to get a truck for work, I wanted something basic that would do the job. The SR5 has done it for me. The dealership tried to sell me on a TRD Sport, but I didn't feel like the upgrade was worth it for my purposes. The only off-roading I do is on construction sites, so the OR features were superfluous for my needs.

Maybe it varies by region, but I see tons of ORs and Sports on the road here, but SR5s are few and far between - especially a DCLB 4x4 SR5.
