    Saw a post a few years ago on a bike forum where a guy had been cleaning his chain with the bike idling in first gear and manage to hook 3 fingers into the sprocket. It was...unsettling

    It happens when boat owners put the winch strap OVER the bow stop. It's supposed to go under the bow stop.

    See the picture below? That's correct. If the truck get's into an accident or has to panic stop, the bow stop/roller will not allow the boat to start moving forward. I've seen a lot of people with bow stops and winches not set up right. If the strap goes OVER the stop and they do not tie down the stern (many don't- VERY BAD IDEA) then you can have a 4000 lb cruise missile on your trailer.
