That's good to know since I don't want to max the CVs out. Yeah I was thinking of waiting for the tires to need replacement before I went bigger and got a shell in the meantime. But going sideways down the hill (not very steep either) changed my mind haha.

Speaking of 285s, for those of you running them, how far off is your speedometer at highway speeds?

Its about an increase of 8% from what your speedometer reads. So at 70 on the dash, you are more around 75. Worst case, just assume you are about 5 over.

You can also download a GPS speedometer app on your phone to get an idea of how far off it is...I've used speedview and like it for a free app

Which tires do you plan to mount/balance on the TRD simulated beadlock wheels?

The reason I ask is because I've read that some 285's are closer to 32", while others can be over 33". My Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3's are 32.9".

Like Juan stated above, if you can do the CMC, might as well. I got mine done, so my tires don't rub the frame. However, while offroad, the 285's still rub some plastic...nothing a sharp (preferably new) utility knife can't slice through, though. Be careful when you do this. The razor blade cuts like a hot knife through butter. In the mall parking lots or pushing pebbles on the pavement, no rubbing issues at all. I did remove the mudflaps from the day I bought it (I purchased used, as well).

I also replaced the front coil seats to the 1" ToyTec's for a bit more lift than the TX Baja originally came with, and replaced the rear leaf spring packs for the AllPro Standards. Rides very well.

Edit: Forgot to mention I also run 1.25" hub centric wheel spacers for better clearance and more aggressive stance.

Hi Paul:wave: You should checkout our local Northern Nevada area thread, we're trying to set up a trail run or mod day soon. Its nice to meet some other locals on here.
Im not quite sure yet but maybe the ST Maxx which I belive are a true 33. Thats good to hear that there isn't much triming required, not afraid to cut some plastic.

I run the ST Maxx on my truck in 315s, and on the wife's 4runner in 285s, and they're great tires. I've been in some pretty sloppy mud with them and was surprised how well they did.

Officially not a mall crawler anymore :boom:, I got the chance to take the Taco mudding this past Saturday. It was great playing with the Locker and A trac, i pulled about 5 cars that were stuck in the mud pit with no problems at all. I really was surprise with the truck and the new tires perform really well.

Im not sure wheeling wise how strong fab four stuff is, but it does have a clean unique look for sure. How much is it running?

Def is some serious coin for that, you might be able to find similar for a little less depending on what you like about the bumper. At one time I was pretty dead set on the vengeance rear bumper though, so I understand the interest here.
