It'd actually probably be harder on your alternator. Of course, once you had completed your test you could always just hook the battery up to a charger and let that bring the battery back up. :notsure:

Q for the MTs here...my 17 TRD OR has abt 2k miles on it. A couple times at random when I try to start the engine the ignition doesn't even engage. I have truck in gear normally, clutch depressed and other foot on brake. It's weird because 30 seconds later it turns over no problem. Has anyone encountered something like this? I am pretty certain clutch is fully depressed so it doesn't seem to be refusing that so I am a little lost on this.

Husky Weatherbeaters yes. Does that create an issue with the clutch pedal?

The Saint might be onto something... My factory weather jobbies are molded so there is nothing behind clutch pedal

Perhaps it's impeding the full travel and switch isn't engaging

    there's your answer.

welp, actually your answer is to push really f'ing hard with your clutch foot to engage the ignition. think of it as yet another [unusual] theft prevention thing. or something to confuse the valets. or your wife. :anonymous:

Next time it happens try to start the engine using the clutch cancel switch but make sure it is in neutral, that should tell if it is the mat.

3rd gear 3000 rpms to 5th at 2000 rpms is insanely smooth, I suggest y'all try that skip. Smoothest shift by far

Alright I'll tinker with it and see if I can replicate again but good to know it's just a mat issue and not something worse.

I had a Silver '16 TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB Auto that had was involved in an accident, and finally traded it in for a MGM '17 TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB Manual!
I'm super thrilled as it is exactly the truck I wanted the first time but wasn't able to wait for what I wanted to order.
I got to cannibalize the tonneau cover and hardware involved from the previous truck, and the dealer agreed to remove the damn painted pinstriping that they decided was a good idea.
    Love the manual box!

I'm not sure what you mean about the e-brake boot, but I just have it laying how it lays naturally around the handle. :D

Did all generations have this? My Mom went to move my old truck once (2nd gen) when it was parked on her lawn. She couldn't start it at all, and she drove manuals all her life. Her landscaper tried and he couldn't move it either. She had to wake me up and I had no issues... I always chalked it up to some weird thing that happened once. It really made her sad and made her feel old so I would be happy if I got to tell her it really wasn't her fault.
