Congrats, you got your 3rd gen wings.

Unfortunately they are only obligated to fix/replace the engine. Buying the truck back or replacing it is a "courtesy" determined either by the dealership or Toyota. You may have a stance if it takes over a month in regards to lemon law, but even that process is still an inconvenience.

Hopefully you at least get a loaner, car payment coverage, complimentary extended warranty, or combination of those as a courtesy. Keep calling corporate to complain.

They won't give you a new truck, just obligated to fix or replace the engine. You can look into the lemon law in your state because some can go by time limits. Open a case with corporate and keep good records.

Sorry to hear about the engine trouble. That's great that they identified the problem and are going to replace the engine under warranty.

You would need more problems to qualify for the lemon law.

Sucks OP, but Toyota is only obligated to fix what's wrong with your truck, which is the engine, which they are happily obliging to, why do you feel entitled to a whole complete new truck?

Man I took delivery yesterday of exactly the vehicle I want and it replaced the vehicle I wanted. Both old & new are the same vehicle except color and 100,000 miles. But I'd sure want a new one if Toyota told me they were doing a remove & replace on my engine.

Entitled? He bought and paid for a new truck 2 weeks ago. I'd hardly call it entitled.

What a nightmare. My condolences to OP. I'd want a new truck too but that's likely not an option.

By feeling he deserves a whole new truck instead of just the engine replaced which is the problem, not the whole truck. Why should Toyota foot the bill/loss for an entire new truck when they are fulfilling there end and doing right by OP and replacing the engine. So yes entitled. Does it suck its a new truck, yes, should OP be upset, yes. Should OP get a whole new truck because of it, no. But yes it sucks, but sounds like Toyota is doing right by him.

You are hoping that the service tech torques everything right and replaces everything as good as the factory does when they have to take apart and then reassemble the engine...while this can be done it could lead to other constant problems with a new truck...I would rather start fresh and im asking for the same truck same trim same color would be nice....they have no eta on when they can get a block and the service manager said once they have the part it is atleast a 2 day job....in my state if they have the truck more than 30 days I can use the lemon law....:boom:

Also I have filed a case with Toyota corp as well and will hopefully be speaking w the gm at the dealership hopefully tomorrow as he has disappeared on a Friday.....I will be asking for compensation as well as first payment is due soon and an extended warranty If they wont swap the truck sounds like a good idea to ask for that since this is a major job....

We do not and will never agree Toyota is doing the morally correct thing by just changing the engine on his new truck.

They sold and profited on the sale of the truck & should provide him with what he bought. A new truck. If he wanted a truck that's had people under the hood removing and installing major components he could have saved some cash & bought used.

Without other & ongoing issues I agree they most likely will not replace it. I just don't agree.

Am I correct that you work or had worked in insurance?

LOL they didnt fill the trans from the factory, torque leaf springs, etc.... mistakes happen, especially in a high volume production. It totally sucks, but they dont ow you a truck. You accepted the terms of the warranty when you bought it.
