Depending on the dealer you can get a brand new truck. Seen this many times. The dealer is key in these cases. If it's a big dealer--they will probably tell you to deal with Toyota; which I personally find to be useless as tits in a bowl.

My old 2000 Tacoma had serious accident damage, spent more than 40 hours alone on the Frame Machine and 48 days total in the body shop. Years later when it was time to go it had a clean CarFax, l think front end alignment was the only thing listed after all that.

Typically the service dept has 3 attempts to repair the fault. After that, he can consider the looooooong, drawn-out process of LL-ing the truck.

I'm confident they will correct the issue. I'm also confident they won't swap it with a new truck..... you'll see as this situation unfolds in the days to come.

So the service manager doesnt know when the new engine will be there said he had no eta on that, however once they have it he said 2 days to put it in...and its a good sized dealer but the county I live in has at least 3 other dealers and I can think of a 4th near by so lots of competition.... and yes Toyota customer service is lacking so far...takes a long time for a call back and he hasnt really made any decisions just passed information back and forth....

you need to stay away from smitty99 and his doctrine of doomsday negativity and enjoy your truck and life instead of dwelling on senseless worry about issues that may or may not exist, you will die young worrying all the time about shit out of your control.

Considering some of the crap quality of assembly coming from the factory and the workers there, maybe having a service tech put a new engine is a good thing?
