If nothing else if you leave the steel doors off the wind won't blow them out of the bed!

Yes go witht he metal and locks.
The OEM have an annoying habit of not being secure and flying off. Especially if much or something heavy (like a tow hitch - which has value on the metal recycle market (and causes damage when flailing around)) is in it.
Even if just keeping the keys hanging in the cab....affords some security (when needed) and not much of a problem.

A reason this thread exists is because of the problems with the original...which is even why they remain so darn expensive to replace!

Thread revive...How are the mobtown doors holding up @tomwil ? I too would find my plastic doors more often than not laying in the bed of my truck after a quick jaunt down a gravel road. Got tired of putting them back in and eventually had one fly out. The worst part, the one that flew out is the one that usually stayed latched.

My Mobtown doors are doing great! One of the best original improvements I did. Everything inside the cubbies are still safe, no leaks even after a 30" snowfall in 2016, and the locks still fully operational even after being exposed to weather the past 2 years.

Here in Las Vegas,it seems the factory ones get stolen or blow off .Better too buy the metal lockable ones.
