    It was making a whining sound when I would accelerate it increased with the rpms of the engine....and it was coming from the right side of the engine....me and the service advisor thought it would be maybe an alternator or pully maybe....obviously we now know what it is but before the field tech came they had 4 techs including the service manager agree it was not normal operation. The problem also started suddenly the as the night before the problem no issues with the truck and then I start it up the next day with the sound and it was loud at idle then got louder in neutral as that increased the rpms and driving home from work the noise continued and was bad enough that I took it by the service department after work...

    I'd be livid if my brand new truck had to have the engine torn apart by techs. The same techs who can't tighten lugnuts or figure out how to properly check the "sealed" transmission fluid levels. Oh look at the usual suspects calling the OP a troll.... :facepalm:

    P.S. 7 pages in I haven't made a single post yet for hours and I see my fan club has already been in full effect by quoted posts. Pathetic.

    I'm guessing some of the usual subjects have high levels of cognitive dissidence, either that or Toyota stockholm syndrome.

    The dealer will have to rebuild your broken engine as Toyota does not produce crate engines. But a rebuilt engine using all factory parts done at a dealership should be just fine. They will likely put one of the top mechanics on a job like that so I wouldn't be too concerned. They are not obligated to provide a new truck since everything else works fine. You were just unlucky and got a bad bearing in your motor - a rare event for sure but it can happen. Toyota is doing right by you and I wouldn't give the dealer too much grief after all you want them to do a good job.

    Thanks, wasn't always the case, product of old age and military service, that and sometimes things that seem like a big deal really aren't that big of a deal. I and everyone here are in the top 1% of the wealthiest people to live on this planet, clean drinking water, abundant food supply, etc. Its just a truck at the end of the day ;) end soapbox.

    It was new when he bought it, then they are required to fix anything after for 36k miles or 3 years. Based on your thought process at what point does it stop? If they have to fix or replace a headlight is his truck no longer new and he gets a whole new truck? What time or mileage limitation is in effect? If his motor craps out 2 years and 20k later does he deserve a new truck?

    The OP has an engine issue and wants a new truck? :rofl:

    As someone said before, the sense of entitlement is hilarious with people these days!

    * headlamp & engine
    * 2 weeks & 2 years

    What do they have in common? Nothing. A head lamp is not an engine & 2 weeks is not 2 years. A truck can run without a headlamp & after two years OP could have enough equity to get out of his truck.

    As far as the rest of your post. I don't know you (and have only met a few people on this site) and I can assure you that you don't know me as obviously evidenced by your assumption and summation "entitlement". You are dead wrong.

    But feel free to bend over for anyone taking $20, $30 or $40k outta your pocket. If what OP says is true, TM & its dealer sold him a POS.

    I'd want a new truck too.

    My 05 Camry nearly shit the bed when they installed an oil filter wrong and it was literally streaming oil as I drove down the road.

    Same car needed a water pump and belts... until i got a second opinion. They said there was zero wrong with the car.

    When i had my 886s installed they put the trim packed on the wrong side. And they are an OME dealer...

    When my rear pinion seal went bad I paid a shop to fix it instead of going in for warranty.

    Several years ago I had maintenance done at a non-local dealership on another well respected, reputaionally reliable brand.

    As soon as I picked the vehicle up, before I'd even put it in drive, it had a check engine lamp illuminate. A quick check underneath revealed the dealer mechanic forgot to reinstall the oil pan drain plug. The plug was under the closed hood. So effectively the motor had no oil in it even tho they were done, it was on the ready line & I had paid the bill, been handed the key & told to have a nice day & come back.

    I just wouldn't trust a having a replaced or rebuilt motor in a truck I paid a new price for.
