Legally /contractually does he deserve a new truck? No. I don't think so unless he has a buyers remorse law in his state something that allows him to return it for any reason (not sure anything like that exists for new vehicles)

Ethically or morally does he deserve a new truck? I think a lot of people would argue he does.

What should the dealer or toyota do about it? Hopefully they would have that discussion with open minds and make it right based on the customer's wishes. Buy it back, exchange it, whatever...

Because racism and cultural superiority run around TW like water.

Any time anyone had problems "that sucks, sounds like yours was built by Mexicans."

Retardery at its finest. Baja has a ton of awards.

    Shit happens.

    Hang in there OP.

:boink:I found the email to the GM who is a lawyer apparently and related to the owner as they have the same last name so son brother uncle who knows....I pleaded my case and will see what happens...I had another brand of car that had a serious issue the weekend I purchased it and that dealer exchanged cars because the dmv paperwork had not been submitted yet....this is a diff case but at the end of the day even if they force me to keep this truck I will just pay it down and trade it most likely :itllbuffout:

What awards have they won? Paying local staff 8.00 per hour to build trucks? Exploiting human labor? Capitalization at it's finest? Rather see those workers in the Texas plant with all the benefits.

Find another truck that is on their lot that want and tell the GM that you would like to purchase it. They should just give you back what you paid for your truck as a trade in and sell broken one when it is finally fixed. Most dealerships buy cars back no questions asked after a couple weeks of purchase if you are not satisfied with it. They will get there money back. They always do. Ask the GM to put himself in your shoes and ask him, what would you expect to happen. Toyota needs to step up and do the right thing if they want to keep their customers happy or they will start going else where. Good luck OP!

The salesmanger who is a twat he really is said before knowing the engine was the issue said well we will buy it back but to get in a new truck I would have to give them another 2000.00 pardon my lang. but I cant get my head far enough up my ass or his to see his point of view but ill keep trying....hopefully the GM is different....and this is 2000.00 to buy the exact same truck I have not asked for a higher trim or anything.... apparently your Tacos drop 2000 right out the door and I should just be glad it hasnt dropped more....

Don't deal with the salesmanager--he probably was selling cell phones last month or in detox.. Kick it up to the GM or the franchise owner.

There are no trained engine builders putting your engine together on an assembly line. Ferrari is the only volume manufacturer that I know of that uses one highly trained mechanic assembling an engine from start to finish, all others use a tone of untrained workers adding a few parts at a time, may as well be building a vacuum cleaner. I can assure you the person re-building your engine at a Toyota dealer is better trained. Now if he gives a shit is a different story. But in the case of your bearing failure even the worst mechanic would have probably caught that before installing since you always run bearings round your fingers before installing. On the assembly line that built your engine in the first place there simply isn't time to do that. You have a very good chance of getting a better built engine after this is all said and done.
You have a right to be concerned and talk to the dealer about who is building your engine, and ask for a free extended warranty, but getting a new truck is stupid and it will not effect your resale, anyone who pulls your toyota service records that knows his ass from his elbow will see this as a good thing.

Not sure why this is such a hard concept for people to grasp here. OP per his purchase agreement of the truck with Toyota and the dealer and said conditions of factory warranty mean he is entitled to Toyota repairing his truck, he is not entitled to them replacing it. Not rocket science, does it suck for OP, sure, does he want a new truck and feels that would be the best solution, understandable, but world doesn't operate that way and is not entitled to a new truck; new engine, repairs yes.

I don't agree with that logic at all. Either you stand behind your product or you don't. If shit fails within a week of owning it, that's on the manufacturer. If it fails after a couple thousand miles then that is warranty work.

Whether you agree or not, it's in writing otherwise when he signed for the truck, like I said in the last part it's understandable why he want's a new truck and plenty of reasons for that solution, but doesn't mean he is entitled to it, very different things.
