How do my CV's look?

So I installed my CV's today, did them mostly myself, just needed help getting them straight to get them popped out. I also installed the Diff Drop from toytec and during installation I noticed I already had a diff drop installed, news to me . It wasnt the same size, it was quite a bit smaller. So after installing it the CV's still look like they are at a bad angle to me. I should be getting some added weight on the front end this week and will soon be getting the rear lifted. How does it look to you guys?

The front is at 40.5" I have the .5" top plate spacer because im getting a bumper and winch, and seen multiple people have 2" with the 886's and no spacer. I know its really high, but I just wanted to get it done in one shot.

I thought the ribs of the cv boots shouldn't be touching each other. What the hell do I know though.

 

So here is what I am thinking. I dont have the ability to take the coilover apart and replace the top 3 bolts with new ones so I was thinking about pulling the coilovers off and cutting the bolts down a little bit because with the spacer we put the new longer bolts on that are still too long. How does that sound? And taking the spacer off of course

 

sure, they probably don't need to be cut down. but getting the spacer out needs to be done asap. your gona ruin your cv's pretty quick like that.

 

Ya, I havent been driving the truck, I actually just put them on today. And they do need to be cut down because even with the spacer on the back one almost touches the inside of the fender and you cant get a socket over it.

 

Not to advocate that it's ok but the ribs on my boots are also touching. Put about 20 000 kms on them and they are due for a change. Where the ribs touch they wear out a nice grove in the boot.

Other then that i've never had any issues with them. I run my truck hard and push it in 4x4 and never had any break on me or bind up. So I guess in my case I don't mind changing the axles every 20K.

**EDIT** After looking at the pictures again yours do seem a bit more harsh then mine. I would say they would wear out faster but there is also a fine line between wearing out faster and breaking. Your call man.

 

Well when mine went they had a huge groove in them. I think the 800 mile trip did them in

 

I went out and looked at my CVs and they dont look as bad as the ones pictured above, but they do have me concerned. I am at 40" on the lift(height of fender well with 285/75/16s), here is a photo of the right side. Do I need to lower the strut adjustment to get it at say 39 1/4 ?

Well I tried to fix it last night but was very tired and was getting frustrated while working on it so I figured it wasnt a good idea to work on my truck in that situation. I am just gonna wait til I get my bumper and winch on, should be Tuesday, and see what my height stance are.

 

How do they look now? I got the 1/2" spacer removed

 

i still say too much bro. the ribs on the boot are touching each other thats a tear waiting to happen and the joint gonna wear out quick.
