How did you resolve this (if you did)? I'm getting ready to install Dakars and wan't to avoid this issue if at all possible as it would annoy the shit out of me. And as a side note, it is strange that the set of Dakars aren't always the same specs. Seems like you would be over-compensating with the ++ leafs and a 1/4" top plate spacer on the driver side.

I haven't found a fix for it. But after driving around for a while it seems to have evened itself out a little (not completely though) My high clearance rear with dual swingouts should be coming in this month. The tire is going to be on the passenger side so I'm worried it'll lean even more. Maybe when I get the Dakar aal's it'll even out. If not then I'll maybe shim it. Or just leave it how it is

:rofl:is that considered a mod in this case?

Figured I would throw this up here and hope someone can help. In Death Valley a few weeks ago my front driver side developed a clunking noise when hitting bumps (there was a LOT of washboard) and I could not figure out what it was but I noticed that my tire was hitting my UCA (light racing)(see image below) which has never happened before. I have OME 886 coils and shocks but I am not sure they are the problem. All bolts have been checked, I replaced the lower ball joints and seem to still have the issue. No tire movement when I try to wiggle them. Not sure where to go from here short of just handing it over to a shop. Any ideas out there?

Make sure the camber did not change. I have read about the top ball joint moving inboard sometimes on the LR UCA.

You mean the ball joint doing a 180 under the boot? There was no movement on the top nut, I would have seen it with all the dirt and mud plastered on there!

It can slide inboard in the gruve without turning at all. That is how camber is adjusted on the LR UCA. If it moved a little could be hard to see. Did you have the alignment checked?

Just had it aligned after replacing the lower ball joints, still has the same clunk but I can't tell just yet if the tire is rubbing. Thanks for the responses!

I wish it was just that but I know that sound and this isn't it!

Mine made a popping noise slow stopping and and around in driveway .
Turned out shop that aligned it didn't tighten lower eccentric bolts.

Does anyone know if the OME u-bolts (7.25" long) will work when the Dakar AAL (D29XL) is added to the leaf pack? Further to that, will the OME u-bolts work with the above when used with a 3* axle shim?

    Thanks!

Not sure here's a pic of my OME u bolts with just full dakar pack, no AAL or shim

Thanks! It looks like the AAL should work but if I need to shim as well I'll need longer u-bolts.

I believe they include enough threads for the AAL, I've not seen another part # from OME for u bolts

Just a thought, have you checked to make sure all the bolts that hold your swaybar on are in tight enough?

I remember having a very similar issue when I swapped out my front suspension on my old 04 Tacoma.

Thanks, I basically torqued every bolt I could find. I am thinking at this point taking in to a shop (so they can tell me they couldn't find anything wrong).

I'm also looking for suggested u-bolt length for the Dakar pack with the D29XL aal and 3* shim if anyone knows or has used a some for their set up. The OME ones I have now are 7.25" long and look like they'd be 3/4"-1" too short.
