    Everyone apparently.

Sorry about that. Should be live now (not that it helps you).

True, true. But, I've been stumped on simpler stuff. Ever install a CV axle? All the DIY's and instructions say to just line up the spline to the diff and push it in then gently use the accordion of the joints to "hammer" it all the way in. They make it sound so easy...no big deal. It's only one line in the DIY on this step. I spent several hours trying to do this. What all the instructions fail to tell you is that the little c-clip on the end of the splines has to have the opening pointing down for it to install easily. A lot of cussing and throwing things that day.

Throwing tools... (not) reading instructions ... all in a days work my friend!

Gotta say this is one bad ass skid plate. Looking at that piece of tin I took off and comparo... I'm hard pressed to wonder what that OEM skid was for?? Maybe to keep snow from packing around the engine, and even that I'd be skeptical about. It wasn't even strong enough to tie the frame together and they had to add those brackets.. I bet the frame still flexes a good bit with the OEM setup. Not so much with the Mobtown gear!

A little tech edumacation: when changing a page/file/anything accessible by a URL on your site, it's a good idea to set up a "301 Redirect" to the new page. This tells the browser that the page at the old URL now lives at a new one, and the browser will automatically redirect to the new URL, ensuring a seamless experience for the user. This means that any references to that page that have been posted on forums, chats, social media, etc., will continue to work. This also means that search engines will not penalize your site for suddenly having broken content, but will rather update their own data to reflect the move of the content.

For sites/companies that take their internet traffic seriously, proper 301 redirects are a very, very big deal. For smaller websites it's not as much of an issue, but I still seriously suggest doing it.

Your site is running on Wordpress, and there should be free plugins available that will let you do this in a matter of one or two clicks (if it's not available out of the box, which it might be).

Yup. Found them. Thanks. Took a bit longer to do it by myself but not bad.

I've hammered them 4 large bolts on with a 1/2" air impact gun and the back 2 small bolts with a 1/4" DeWalt impact gun. But basically, just tighten them.

Did them hand tight then tried 38lbs. Got about a full turn out of it. Figure bolt size etc its close.

And found torque spec for the reused 12mm ones from the factory skid, 33 Nm from manual. Not sure what it is in ft lbs didn't look and my torque wrench has both so ya.

Installed the front one just considering getting the dealer to do the transmission and transfer skid one.
Figure when removing those bolts from the transmission sub assembly the transmission might shift a tiny bit and I don't want to give them an excuse of something wrong with the transmission. Figure having them do it they can't try and say it was my fault.

Will look into it and decide. Besides I want to get an underbody salt wash done by krown rust proofing. Do it every year on my other cars and no rust on them.

When I did the transmission I removed one bolt then placed a new bolt. Removed second bolt replaced etc so that the crossmember never moved. Only one bolt was removed at a time.

I'm all for proper torque, but some things don't really matter. Example - skid plate bolts. Just tighten them. Besides, you are replacing some little piece of tin with a skid that is probably 5x thicker and what seems like 100x heavier. So the factory specs are out the window anyway.

Ya but when you remove the second one even with the first replaced it will still shift a tiny bit as it is not tight enough to hold it completely in place. won't shift a lot but still maybe a mm or 2. Just for sake of not giving them an excuse to void my warranty.

From what the dealer has told me they will look for the slightest little thing to void. Like telling me larger tires only 1 inch bigger will void my differential warranty.

They can look all they want to void that warranty but the truth is they have to 100% proof that whatever you did is the reason that whatever failed. They can't just give some bull crap reason like "Oh, you bolted a skid plate to your truck? That extra 60 pounds is why the transmission in the rear and blew up." I am exaggerating but you get my point.

yes in the US with the magnusson moss act
but we don't get that benefit here in Canada.

dealer doesn't need proof they just need something to point to. doesn't even need to be logical.
Don't get me wrong a quick call to corporate could help but still. just to save the aggravation.

This is all based on what they quote me. If they give me some ridiculous quote of 2-3 h labour they can take that skid plate and shove it in their ass lol.

He dealership refused to install skids on mine. I asked because of the fine print. I'm not super concerned about it, but if they try to screw me, I'll deal with it then.

Just take the skid plates off if you ever have a sever issue that requires warranty. Isn't that the beast of bolt on stuff? I mean that's the reason we put so much effort into our bolt on sliders.
