    Morning everyone.
As someone who holds a Pa state inspection licence,Ease up on the guy who is just following the rules set forth by the state. If he passes stuff that "fails" it's his licence/ lively hood on the line not yours.
With that being said there is plenty of things you can look the other way on.And window tint is no longer the inspection mechanics responsibility to fail.they changed that rule a couple years back... That's on the police to determine. And Pa law says on a pick up truck if the exhaust is past the cab it does NOT have to exit the truck.:hattip:

    This!

Except when I looked it up I read this

    (5) An exhaust system shall extend and discharge completely to the outside edge of the vehicle body, including a truck bed, or as originally designed.

Back in the late 60's(yeah I know I'm an old fart) when I was inspecting horse less carriages, I had an instance where I called the State Police about a customer complaining about a decision I had made. The State LEO said that pass or fail just as long as it is within the State inspection guidelines is up to the inspecter(me). Failed the guy because he had bonded shoes on one side and riveted on the other . Only required to pull one front and one rear drum for inspection, but boss had us do all,4 wheels because of wheel cylinder Leakage. Also it made him more money finding things to repair:).

The local mechanic I go to was getting an earful from a guy with a Jeep because he wouldn't pass it. The Jeep had wider wheel/tire combo and fender extensions to cover them, mechanic said extending the fenders like that broke the rules. I was surprised to hear that. True?

Heh Ken, I used to have an inspection license too but it was the early 70's. I still have my driver's license number memorized.

    Hi Dave
It'seems amazing what one can remember but also forget. I can still remember my home phone number when I was a kid growing up in NY:). But have trouble remembering where I left my keys in the house 5 minutes ago:annoyed:. Inspecting cars back then was a snap. No emission testing:thumbsup:. life was good back then.

Thanks all. Spent the morning replacing the spark plugs and air filters. Trying to diagnose the terrible gas mileage I'm getting. Its about 10 mpg at the moment. 60 miles took the fuel gauge from full to 3/4. Tire air pressure it at 34psi. Running some lucas fuel injector cleaner through the tank now. Heres to hoping its not something serious.

Will add it to my list of things to check/replace. Hoping to not have to replace the o2 sensor as well, but its on my list as well.
