Dude no kidding. I wanted Harrop but it's an extra $800 over the life of the truck with the front locker first and then the tundy axle. Though I might get some money for my elocker rear.

    You're thinking LT, Mike?!

That's kinda where I'm heading with mine, but like you said... That's YEARS away. I want to enjoy a MT rig that's as well set up as I can make it before I go down that rabbit hole.

With the rate at which you finish mods, your MT setup will be done just in time to start the LT transformation :p

    BODY LIFT!!! - Part II

Wrapped up the sweet Daystar 1" body lift tonight. I was really impressed with the quality and completeness of the kit, which went together without any major hiccups.

It definitely feels a bit taller sitting in the cab, but not anything drastically different. The shifter ended up landing in a much better location by moving 1" lower relative to the cab. I can rest my elbow on the console and my hand hits the shifter knob with my arm being almost perfectly horizontal. I dig it.

One of the things that I'll need to do tomorrow is to pull the rear bumper and drill new holes to move it 1" higher, possibly more. Not a big deal at all. I'll also take her for a spin and see how she handles with her center of mass being a bit higher.

If everything looks good, I'll be ready to take it to @3378jakesr5 and get my sliders and front bumper on. Once Jake stitches up the last 6" of my tub seam, it'll be time to seal that shit up and actually drive my damn truck again!

    'A' Pillar RAM Mount

Oh, and I also got my Ram Mount set up on my A pillar. Pretty nice! Waaaaaay better than the suction cup mount that I had previously.

Thanks, man. I've been pulling home gym stuff together for a few years now. I got that power rack for an absolutely screaming deal. I love it. No way I'd ever bench alone without one.

Hey Brett, just double checking, but it sounded like I might be able to just do a direct swap of my old speedo gear and my new 33 tooth gear without having to swap the shafts.

Is that correct? I thought you mentioned somewhere that it was only the early 1st Gens that had to swap the gears. Thanks!

It was the other, less handsome, Brett , but yeah, yours should be a simple swap.

    I'm just gonna say...
buy the damn gear man, it's as big as you can go and as close as you'll get to having the speedo read correct. Like jr said, it's a bolt, a clip, and put it back in. Proceed to drink beer and giggle at how easy it actually was.

    BODY LIFT!!! - Part III

Well, the 1" body lift is done! This morning I double checked all of the torques on the mounts and the steering rag joint extension.

Then I took it for a test drive. I noticed virtually no change in handling at all, and in fact, the ride felt a bit smoother overall. We'll see how it is with the tent back on the rack, but for now, I'm very pleased.

Despite the bad rap that body lifts get, often for good reason, I'm confident that a modest BL like this one will have benefits that outweigh any disadvantages. Time will tell, I suppose.

    Speedometer Gear Change

I've been sitting on a brand new 33 tooth speedo gear for months now (yeah, shocking I know), and I've been under the mistaken impression that I had to transfer the new gear to my stock gear shaft.

Thanks to the Brett's (@Squeaky Penguin and @Star-Lord), I found out that it's an easy direct swap. So I knocked that out today as well.

When I test drove the truck, the speedo was still indicating too fast, but it was MUCH closer to being correct. My new error is about 6-7% fast, whereas I'm guessing before I was at least 12-13% fast. Yeah, that means my odometer will show more than the true miles, but I'm smart enough to figure out the real mileage.

All in all, it was totally worth it.

    IMG_3753.jpg
Speedo gear is in the housing just below and to the passenger side of the output flange.

    IMG_3754.jpg
Pull the connector off of the speedo housing.

    IMG_3755.jpg
The hole that remains. You can feel the worm gear inside that drives the speedo gear.

    Gear assembly removed.

A new O-ring and clip come with the gear.

Assembled, with the O-ring lubed, ready to reinstall in the transfer case.
