Well I grabbed the Yeti jr. score truck and a Hitec servo. Going to grab an esc and receiver to run 2s lipo with my spektrum down the road after abusing it a bit. Looks super cool. Charging currently but I'll update again after a round of playing

A few guys on RCC swapped the Yeti Jr buggy wheels/tires onto their Yeti Score. It actually looks more scale and is more capable. If you stick with the original motor get a bag of those expensive Losi pinions. I'm not 100% sure, but a RTR Tactic Rx from any new Axial 1:10 should bind with the Tx from the Y.Jr.

I ran one of these for a little while. Excellent ESC for these things if you stay brushed. 3s capable as well.

Then I got one of these uber cheap combos. I got a 3000kV motor but would do a 3600kV if I ever get another motor. They sell a program card, too, but it doesn't do that much.

I'm going to keep an eye out for the RR wheels and tires. The electronics really do suck. The motor seems alright for me but the rx is not trimmed well and reverse doesn't want to work. The servo returns to center from a right turn but not from a left turn... it seems glitch and loud... sort of odd things. I'll get a receiver and an esc with my next round of fun money probably a 2s lipo too.

Anyone else interested in one of these? I think it would be an awesome basher.

It is basically just a 2wd Stampede, but I love the 80's RC monster truck looks. By all accounts, the body is a work of art.

My first RC was one of these in the 90s, so you can see why I like the retro look. I will see if I can find an actual picture of the one I had:

I noticed Tamiya re-released the original design with oil shocks and an esc last year. It would be cool as a nostalgic truck, but it would never handle as well as a modern RC. And as you mentioned, the drivetrain is a weak point.

Yea the Frog diff is the week point. MIP CVD's helped a little but the flex of the entire system was the real problem

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
They look great!! I always laugh when I'm in there buying fabric or something. All these women wondering what this man is doing  But I was raised to do things yourself, what ever that may be.

I saw 1 of those on display at Hobbytown, last week. Looks awesome. Not a bad buy. I think the Axial SMT10's look better (more real) but I honestly don't know too much about them.

Ended up finding this lightly used on the local classifieds. My son is young, but he is starting to take an interest in RC, so this will be fun for him to learn with. I still have my eye on that Bigfoot for me.

Ya that is a great truck for the youngster, just getting into it. And the Bigfoot would be cool, if you picked one up. I'd be afraid to get it dirty, for how awesome it looks haha.

Right? It is almost too nice to drive. I would be tempted to get a cheap body for it to bash with, but then what is the point of buying it over a base model stampede?

I gotta say I am impressed at the speed and power of modern brushed motors with 7 cell packs. That Rustler can wheelie from a stop and the runtime is amazing to me. I am not used to that coming from a first gen tmaxx and electrics from 10+ years ago. It seems the hobby has gotten faster over the years.

Lol for sure. I guess just get the Bigfoot and run it / enjoy it. That's what they are for.

I personally think the past few years have taken great strides in the electric cars. Brushless and lipos just took everything to another level. Nitro is still cool though, obviously too. Funny that my buddy has a friend who has a bunch of old electric trucks as well as new and old nitros. He tried out my friend's new Arrma Typhon and was blown away how fast it was for a new RTR buggy. It would be hard to compare something like that to, say my old Tamiya buggies (Grasshopper, Boomerang and Thunder Dragon).

    Batteries are still evolving, too.

I remember seeing that OBS Bigfoot at a mudbog and monster truck rally at the Super Dome in New Orleans back when I was a kid in the early '80s. I don't even know how or why my parents scored tickets and went. I remember seeing Bigfoot come out with street tires on then watching the pit crew bolt on the monster truck tires for a showing. Then take those if and put on some that were at least 15' tall just to run over things. The mudbogs had to be the loudest show on earth to be having in an enclosed dome.

It's getting there. The flares won't work right with this body. They're close, but not right. I'm waiting on a chassis and some time to mount the drivetrain. These pics are just sitting on the tires and axles.

Put some live back into the 10-2. Ble pro, puller pro 2700kv bec2.0 metal trans and gears. This motor is going to literally destroy this truck, better low speed control on 3s then the stock 35t on 2s, and about 4 times the wheelspeed. Gotta give it to Holmes Hobbies they are killin it
