Nice looking truck. I don't get what makes a 4cyl prerunner fabled though?

when I first got the truck i posted pics and alot of the guys said that someone slapped the trd badge on there and its not a true trd

but it is trd. has all trd suspension. just no locker. the 4cyl did not come with the e-locker.

and apparently alot of guys didnt know they made the Dcab in the 4cyl

I do not see many of these tacomas with ths package

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The 4 cyl is the standard in the DC pre. The V6 was an option. If yours had the V6, it would have a locker.

whats the difference in suspension between the prerunner and TRD OF? I thought the TRD OF only adds the e-locker, rock guards, and TRD rims?

I would think this truck simply had the TRD sticker put on by the previous owners so it's just a 4-cyl prerunner with TRD stickers.. correct me if I'm wrong.

    Go for the looks first:cool:

    Lift 3 or 4
    265 M/T or 285 and trim

Id remove the rain guards, I personally dont think those look good on a 1st gen tacoma.

    Darken up the windows

New wheels (black to match the tint)

    That truck could look goooooood

Good looking truck. I like the rain guards and have them on my truck, but I have the slimmer profile models from Weathertech that mount inside the window channel. IMO they're much better looking than the ones that mount to the outside of the door frame using adhesive tape.

The 2001 - 2004 Double Cabs got Tokico rather than Bilstein shocks bundled with the TRD Off Road Package.

Yup, my 04 D-Cab has Tokicos. I know someone with a non-TRD 04 D-cab and his has just plain black shocks.
