Yeah, and to get to WORK the speed limit on I-135 is 75.

Like I said, I'm demanding more from my truck than you because of where I live.

My 2nd gen could do it. My MT can do it.

    Your truck could not. Period.

But I can tow more faster than your 2nd gen truck than drive 80 which is unsafe in the majority of areas and no issue for the majority to do.
    I need functionality.
    So you are speeding ?

As your frustration increases, your good grammar decreases.

You keep bringing up towing when I am not. Towing has nothing to do with this.

Empty truck on the interstate. Going the speed limit. Headwind (which here is typically 10 to 20mph). My 2nd gen could hold speed in 5th. My 3rd gen MT can hold speed in 6th.

My 06 Dakota could not. Your truck could not.

    Edit: Speed limit is 75.

Sales guy in Nevada said he would have to talk with the general manager just to see if I could test drive for a few hours instead of a few minutes.

Not to stir the pot, but do you think they are concerned if you did that you might bring it back unhappy?

Do you think toyota designed the truck for 80 mph in a Kansas tornado or towing 5800 pounds or maybe even off roading.

I am running 285's - no armor though. not going to do anything suspension wise until I regear this thing or the toyota service fixes the issue. definitely not going to add any more weight to it.

Well, he also said people were complaining about the A/T, so maybe. Long test drives around here seem to be rare. I've only had one where the salesman did not insist on riding with me. I'm an old guy with great credit, so it's not like I'm going to take off with their truck.

Evidently they didn't design the truck to do this because it can't. Pitty, especially when the 2nd gen and the 3rd MT IS designed to do that.

Basically, everyone from North Dakota to Texas is just SOL and should shut up and go buy something else, is that what you're saying?

Bottom line is people really don't care if a truck can hold 80 miles an hour without coming out of overdrive. Simple, go to S mode.
It beats the second Gen in towing capacity and time. Quarter-mile is also even a little quicker. That functionality is worth more than the 80 mph speed holding OD in my opinion.
Bye for now have better things to do. By the way I went back and corrected my voice to text so you wouldn't get all sprung out on some grammar.

I care about going 80 on the interstate and staying in 5th gear. S mode won't hold a gear it only limits up shifts.

I am not drag racing, and don't care about 1/4 mile times, but I do drive the truck from place to place. Often on the interstate where the speed limit is 80. Half the time it is windy too.

The truck has tons of power. It just isn't quite balanced right.

Had an 06 AC SR5 V6 4x4 Auto, It had every single early 2nd gen problem. The 3.5L just isn't for me and I'm not re-living early model year growing pains again.

You answered my question without answering it.

Look, the vast majority of us bought a Tacoma for two reasons: we needed transportation, & a truck was desired for our hobbies/jobs/chores but a full-size was not a feasible option. There's quite a few of us on here that are unhappy for the reason that we can't use the truck for it's most fundamental use: transportation.

Bottom line is, you somehow think because you have no "issues" all of us that do have no merit.
