Got my kukenam mounted and opened yesterda, but what are the straps on the hinge side for, under the cover?

 

Roll up your cover and tie with straps to keep the weight of the cover from hanging off the zipper itself.

 

Ah, I just stuffed the cover into the Plano bin in the bed while we were messing around and didn't even think about rolling the cover up

 

I like this setup how the tent opens up over the back. I was thinking of getting a camper shell, mounting an RTT on top of it where it opens this way and seeing if I rig the annex so it could encompass the back of the open campershell. anyone seen this done or think its feasible?

 

Should be doable. As long as the annex has the back door for vehicle usage. I don't think it'd be tight, you might have to rig up a method a nice fit.

 

Yeah..or I could just cut an opening in the annex just big enough to encompass the tailgate/campershell area and create a velcrow system or something to create a tight fit

 

In all honesty I want a Habitat....but damn, that price tag is mighty hefty if I could rig something up that is of similar concept and save 4-5k

 

When I put my RTT back on , I plan to have this setup this way...block the rain or whatever when I'm dealing with stuff in the bed of the truck..and have my awning shoot to the driver side. Then I can stay relatively under a room while out camping under the stars...haha. But really i wanna try it off the back. i think Ill end up preferring it that way

 

Now that the snow is melting and temperatures are remaining above zero I started getting my truck set back up for summer. I needed to relocate my TREDs from the roof rack where they spent the winter in order to make room for the canoe once all the ice melts sometime next month. It turns out the mounting tracks under my ARB tent are the right width to hang the TREDs from. I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea yet but it keeps them from banging around the bed in the meantime.

 

This is how I currently have mine setup. For the most part, I like it. When I want to use the tailgate I prop the ladder up so I can stand under the tent. The tailgate is where I usually do the cooking. Also when closed up the ladder is in line with the truck and has less wind drag that way. But now I'm considering getting a 270° awning. If that happens I'll have to rotate it to open over the side, and the awning will cover the other side and over the tailgate.

 

what model tent do you have? can you post up pics

 

That is a nice dual jerry can holder you have attached to the bed rail. Where did you get that? I am a ways from getting a rear bumper with a tire carrier and jerry can holder, and this would be perfect for what I need.

 

So I did a thing this weekend!!

 

For rolling up the cover when the tent is open. Use the short Velcro straps for the cover straps with those so you don't have to leave the cover hanging down against the truck.

 

Looking to put some kind of cover of the foam pad in my RTT. What do you guys recommend for something waterproof, and suitable to protect from the elements.

Its a simple homemade one using slotted angle iron and short cap screws. Nothing fancy but it works.

Evening guys,

First time posting here and I'm just getting into taking care of/working on my own rig so bare with me!

I'm looking for an appropriate roof rack for my double cab '05 Tacoma. One that will be ideal for the Mt. Shasta CVT.
Ideally I could mount the rack and tent on my canopy, but I'm a little gun shy of having to drill into the canopy if necessary and not opposed to just mounting it on the cab.

Any and all suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!
