How would one check those? I've never had to check because they usually work, no I'm not but would that really affect it that much?

Need some help! Ordered an enclosed subwoofer/amplifier from Rockville. I have a 4 gauge wire running as my power source, 8 gauge wire running to my ground, and a 12 gauge wire running as my remote wire. I have the remote wire tapped into my cigarette lighter fuse. I've been getting the red "problem" light. Does it have to do with my remote wire? Does it have to go into the back of my stereo? Any options or help would be great.

 

I would imagine the remote needs to run to the back of your head unit so the sub recognizes the signal telling it to turn on

 

Did you double check you routed the wires in the correct configuration? It's pretty easy to do wrong.

 

So even though the red light is blinking it might not be on?? I have no idea in hell where the remote wire needs to go into the wire harness. I have a jvc kd-s36

 

Yeah I doubt checked to make sure the wires are set to 1-2 3-4 5-6 so I know it's not a mess up on the wiring

 

That's not the right order.

 

I don't know what powered sub you have so its hard for me to troubleshoot. But if you have a lead, it's grounded and you have a remote hooked up to the cigarette lighter you will get power to the sub when the key is turned to the ACC setting. But your powered sub isn't getting the correct signal so it's probably telling you so by a bLinking red light.

You have to hook the remote wire from your head unit to the power sub. Google your head unit model wire harness. It's simple. It's typically a blue wire or a blue wire with a stripe. But just find your wiring harness diagram and make the appropriate connection.

So I just need to find the wire that goes to the wire harness and tap into that wire? I bought the

See my post right above yours. You need to connect the blue (w/white stripe) wire from your head unit to the remote input on your powered sub.

Its not on. You need to tell the amp to turn on, thats what the part aon the amp(usually right next to the power and negative wires) is for. Doesn't need to be big. There will be a connection for it on your units harnness...unless it doesn't support subs in which case you need a new unit. But it should still have the remote wire for any external amps.

Im no wire tech but i have seen my buddy do plenty of my audio. The remote wire does need to come out of the head unit to the amp
