    I'm on a roll today....

Skid plate finally completed. Dropped it and painted the too side of it as well. 5 3/8" bolts help hold it in place and add some needed rigidity too.

Again, it looks great, Todd. The downside is it looks a little like a drag line bucket; it's gonna be scooping crap up like crazy if you go through any mud. Haha, sorry, I just can't stop myself sometimes.

haha, hopefully that is where the short wheelbase comes in to play, keeping the belly away from the ground. It helps that I avoid mud mostly too

 Gotta love those full-floaters. I limped back home once with a busted rear D60 axle (lincoln locked diff) and two busted D44 front axles once. (The D44 axles were busted when I got it and I hadn't got around to putting another set in at the time.) That was kind of a wild ride, but it got me home. That was actually in the truck the NP205 I have for sale came out of.

True one wheel drive lol. That's exactly what I'm excited for. I doubt I'll break a shaft any time soon but if I do I can limp it home. I'm gonna have a grizzly in this axle. Just want it done already.

I did not even bother with the Chevy springs. Too many mixed stories...too stiff...to soft...etc. My buddy ended up building a hybrid Chevy pack with leafs from different year trucks; that's what finally made the trick. But it took a loot of trial/error removing the damn leaf packs a million times and playing with it until he found what he liked.

I got lazy and just bough tg 5" springs. They seem to be pretty much like the old allpro springs I had - which were awesome BTW - with with more arch. But they have an insane amount of flex. Allpro did not have any 5" springs at the time so I went with tg lol. Not too concerned about it long term because the rear end of my truck will get linked sooner than later :D

    That tank skid looks awesome!!

I just couldn't pass up 63's for the price. I have some other sets of leaf springs laying around that I planned to use for a hybrid pack if need be. I saw on another thread that a guy was looking to build a hybrid pack with a 63 main leaf, and then some leafs from a dodge durango. I believe they are the same width, but the durango leafs themselves are thinner. Of course in my case, my shocks probably aren't the best for ride either.

Don't see why that would be unless you have different valving in them than I do in mine. My 5125s ride great, even better than the OME Nitrochargers that were on it before. I'm not an expert, but I think it's probably just a question of getting the spring rate dialed in.

You should check into getting an aftermarket 63" pack from somewhere, one that has the mainspring military wrapped and has a bunch of thinner leafs. That way if you pop your main spring the axle doesn't come out from under the truck and really ruin your day. ;)

The problem with aftermarket springs is that they will still be built to perform best under a heavier, chevy truck, not a mini toyota. I would probably have to go with a custom made pack from Alcan or Deaver, but with the money that would cost, I'd be more interested in just linking the rear.

As for the shocks, Bilsteins are some of the best non-tuneable shocks out there but a set of tuneable shocks would better suit me. I intended to get a set of Radflo's from the same guy who built and tuned my coilovers but other upgrades obviously came first lol. We will see how this new setup works this month though.

I was thinking of Deaver and Alcan when I suggested it. Even then though, if the standard packs they had for a heavy chevy had as many leafs as the Deaver packs I saw on Coast Guard Brian's Taco, you could easily start pulling out leafs until you got the rate you wanted and still have a super flexy military wrapped spring pack. Those things had like 8 leafs or so in each pack. But yeah, I feel ya on the 'be ahead of the game just to link it' issue and I encourage you to try that bell crank setup when you do. Then after you get the bugs worked out of it and figure out valving for the shocks, we can do the OGT. :D

Problem with tunable shocks is you'd have to tune them.:frusty: :annoyed:
