What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Ok. So this was not directly related to the PRNDL position sensor. I have had the bed off for about a year and corrosion in the tail light connectors caused a short that was blowing fuses and causing power to go who knows where. I cut the connectors out and replaced the fuses and now all is better.

 

Come on up when you decide to do an oil change, I'll give you a hand... Lol

Did you sand down the surface for your ground? There should be no paint and it should be a part of the main body of the truck, I just stuffed mine under the seat bolt and sanded down all surfaces.

 

Got my CL find, '02 4Runner bucket seats in today.

What did you do about the rails? Did all 4 line up?

 

Three did. Rear outboard feet on each side is off. Just drilled a couple of holes, bolt with some washers and good to go. Took about 30 minutes, including changing out seat belt receivers.

 

Are those more comfortable?

 

I think so...they "hug" you more with the bolsters. And have adjustable lumbar support. Seem to be a tad bit higher as well, but maybe the Tacoma seats were sagging some.

Installed a new stereo that my younger daughter gave me for my birthday. My older daughter is getting it tinted for me next week.(Great kids.) Washed it as well.

He used OEM LCA bushings for a 2000.

When I search for OEM bushings for my 95, they're shown in the parts diagram, but they're not available to purchase.

The parts diagram shows the 95 bushings as part 12 here

The parts diagram shows two different parts (4 and 5) for the 2000 LCA bushings here.

I noticed there are two different part numbers for the LCA between those years as well

I've been planning to use white line bushings but now want to confirm they're going to work before I order and tear down the front end.

 

Ground is good, I have it connected to the metal insulator of my shifter. Both surfaces are scraped.

 

The LCA design didn't change as far as i know through the years. Either the OEM or White lines would be good. I'd still go for the White line poly bushings though.

that's not a great ground btw. That metal plate as a rubber gasket under it. The seat bolt would be a better one.

the fact that the light is now on and wasn't before would make me check all the connections/splices and what not.

feels real bad knowing that I will definitely not have the same luck.

 

Replaced center bearing; old one was ripped and sagging. Didn't have to unbolt the transmission end of the driveshaft, as the old one slid right off. I was hoping this would help with the low speed vibration I got after installing the HD General Spring rear leafs; damn those things are tall. It helped a bit, but since it doesn't sag, I think it effectively increased the rear shaft angle. I'll add another square washer to shim down the center bearing, but it's mostly just a rumble now, not as much of a vibration. I replaced one of the rear u-joints, as it was a bit stiff off-center, but that didn't help. Nice and smooth on the freeway, just feel it about 22 mph.

 

I will try that and see what it does! Any other help would be great.
