I live in Kansas. I work with law enforcement routinely. Know many officers. There's an adage of "9 you're fine, 10 you're mine."

    So you know squat.

My driving habits really aren't part of this. Truck won't do 75 either, if you want to get picky.

So you are happy with your 3rd gen but feel obligated to speak for the unfortunate unhappy other 3rd gen owners- is this correct? The phrase "what a load" comes to mind.

The AT in the 2013 and 2016 feel weird to me, but not as weird as the fly-by-wire throttle. It doesn't seem linear at all.

You say you don't like dealing with the people here so why stick around just to take personal shots at people? Have yet to see you offer any assistance to other members asking questions. Instead you linger around threads of criticism like a fly buzzing around a fresh pile of pucky, waiting for your opportunity to label the critics as trolls. If you don't like the people here, leave. Simple solution.

LOL if you think '18-20MPG Max' is bad.
Either get the TSB or push ECT.

5000KM on mine (got in in january as well) and no real issues. In the city its all stop and go and 40km speed limits so its fine there, and on the highway I just press ECT and its fine.

Maybe, but my truck can really haul ass in New Jersey, where the maximum speed limit is 65- heard a rumour from a very reliable source my truck did 85 and had power to spare. Pretty sure it is true since I was there, but technically I would not violate any TW COC, so I can not say who the driver was.

I've read you post this numerous times, and I don't doubt your experience, but mine is different. I can absolutely hold 6th at 80mph on flat ground with headwind (in auto). I drove it 800miles home the first day I owned it, from Atlanta to Houston, very flat at speedlimit is 80 in TX. Even a 0.00000001% incline would knoch it to 5th though. But manually "if you want to call it that" it would hold 6th on an incline. I have absolutely no idea what the torque converter was doing as I haven't found and viable reading for it yet.

But to the OP your trans seems fucked if its actually doing what you mentioned in your first post. One thing to note is just like any other 6+ gear auto it will skip gears, mine jumps from 4 to 6 a lot. Hell the 12 speed Fords seem to jump every other gear under normal driving.

So I am a fly...and you are pucky?

I never said I didn't like the people here. I also have never trolled anyone here, but this website has a huge problem, and its people who on their own admission spent 2 minutes or miles on a test drive then passing off their posts as gospel. I mean shit, I had a VW and was on Vortex and it was never this bad. A Volkswagen, man.

Well maybe read my posts about speed limits and headwinds.

Or don't. But don't pull this 10 minutes later.

I drive 80 mph daily with my 2017 DCLb OR with no problems. I'm thrilled with the gas mileage, I had a Dakota QC 4.7 v8, 4x4 and was lucky to get 14 mpg with my heavy foot.

Traded in a bmw 335i 6 speed that got 25 mpg, price in the fuel cost difference for premium fuel and the Tacoma still is cheaper to drive.

Yes it downshift alot, but so did my Dakota with a 4 speed, these are heavy bricks and it takes a lot to get them moving quickly.

Been there, 80/55 on I-495 in 2008 when I got back from deployment. Reckless driving mandatory court appearance. I tried the defense that I was going with the flow of traffic (which I was) the judge then asked me if I ever heard about lemmings and asked me if I knew what happened to all the lemmings. Ticket reduced to speeding and huge fine and 4 points I think

I am happy with my 3rd gen MT. Very unhappy with the 3rd gen AT.

I do feel obligated to speak for someone that is getting written off for having a different experience or opinion. Like I said, I'm in a very specific market and Toyota almost lost my business. It is unfortunate that so many guys here seem to... SEEM being the key word here, jump down my throat because the truck didn't work for me as it does for them and I gave my opinion.
