Such as what? What parts are going to wear more quickly with a spacer lift than 5100's, or coilovers?

Ball joints will wear very quickly

If he goes off-road with this he may end up bottoming out his shocks too

That's right. So if you're going to be doing some serious offroading, you should look elsewhere. The occasional trip off road? You'll be fine. You can also put spacers on the bump stops, which will prevent a bottom-out of the shock.

It all comes around to how he wants to use the truck. I'm guessing though that by the fact he got a Trd off-road 4x4 he isn't gonna be a mall crawler.

Eh. To each their own. I'd bet that 90% of people who loft their trucks and off road would be completely fine with spacers. The bro-hate of spacers on this site is out of control, in my opinion.

The hate for spacers isn't just on this forum man. Google why leveling kit spacers are bad and you'll find results from tacomaworld, f150 forums, and Silverado forums. There are some people on some of the forums who have been flat out rejected an install by places because of possible damages

As long as the added droop (measured at the wheel) isn't going to exceed the limits of the CV or balljoints, I don't see the problem with a small spacer between the mount and shock.

FWIW, ToyTec makes a spring that fits a 5100 that gives you around 1.6" (iirc) with the preload set to 0. Not sure if this works for 3rd gens though.

Toyota dealership here pre sale installs these lifts. Called to check on install and factory warranty will be covered if I were to purchase my own kit and have them install. Ready Lift and ProComp sell very similar lifts and both claim to maintain factory ride as well as both coming with a 5 year 60,000 mile power train warranty.

If the dealer will warranty it it might be ok, that way you can blame them if something goes wrong

Yeah, small. Is 3" of extra droop at the wheel too much for the CV?

    edit: Or BJs?

It's pushing it if you aren't getting aftermarket uca. I recommend total Chaos or lr uca

My wife had ~115k miles on her spacers before we put 5100's on it. Still rides the same. No issues. :bananadance:

Been through glamis multiple times and pulled me out of a few jams.

I've had them on several other vehicles and have never had a problem. My brother literally off-roads his truck DAILY with his 2" spacer lift on a 2012 with 100k miles. No issues. :notsure:

It's weird how people have such different experiences with them
